Smackdown - Trail, Arlington, Washington

Smackdown - Trail, Arlington, Washington

DESCRIPTION

Located on the Pilchuck tract of the Pilchuck tree farm these trails are MT. Bike Trails only, made with permission. Many trails to choose from look for hilltops, and "MTB Only" signs or cutoffs from the logging roads. All trails are Expert with lots of drops. Smackdown is hardest to find, but is identifiable by a 100 foot granite slickrock.

This trail doesn't exist anymore....which is why all the reviews are old. We were up in the area last week on vacation and found the overgrown remnants of what used to be the smackdown trail. There are lots of other trails in the area so it's possible that there's a shore style trail nearby.

Mark and I made smackdown and we are the only ones who hit everything. I snapped a BB my first ride down it off the rock at the bottom, I went to fast and jumped instead of rolling off it. The upper part of the trail is mostly steep rock and the bottom is more small jumps with a couple bigger stunts. There are a couple other trails there, all good but not as hard. Have a good time.

Customer Service

Just like Mark said, look around, go to the tops of hills, or near tops. Signs at begining and at the end of trails.

Finally rode this area and loved what little I was able to find. I didn't have alot of time to spend so I only ended up finding a few trails. The question I have is how do you go about finding the remaining trails? Is this the type of ride where you ride a trail down and then climb to find the next trail and then climb again after that trail? Or can you make one big climb at the start and then combine a bunch of trails for some long downhill?
The trails that I did find were a blast! Fairly steep singletrack, with short log rides and drops. Enough difficulty to slap me to the ground a couple of times. I am looking forward to going back to find more of these trails becouse if what I found is any indication of the rest of the area then count me in! 4 stars instead of 5 because I haven't seen enough yet.

just rode with ol mark and joel and jeff. we all made the first clean decents of the namesake granite drop-in. its quite a committment, but roll-able throughout. almost ripped off my face when i got sideways and did a tuck and roll off the last drop. mark and joel were going big off the stump and rock drops. next time...

Trail is very short and fairly steep with a couple of log rides and some pretty major jumps with some poor landings. Not really worth all the work for such a short trail and bad landings. There are a couple of good sections and jumps but you can't really get a good rhythm riding the trail beacause it is so tightly packed. If you want to do some pretty big jumps that have very technical landings, you may want to check it out.

Customer Service

Don't know how I got there. Spent about an hour and a half looking for the trail. Nearly impossible to find.

If you like riding uphill on old logging roads looking for mythical trails that supposedly give you the "smackdown" then go here. Near the end of the day we found the smackdown. it gave me a super-grin... ...for about 3 minutes. that is how long it will take you to get down the trail. Looking at the drops on this trail i thought to myself, are you kidding me? i did two of the 3 drops and they are not set up very well. There is one trail toward the parking area that looks fun. we didn't have time to ride down it so we walked up it (don't ask, it'l frustrate you). So, i give it 2 flat tires cause if you live less than 50 feet away then it is worth it, but if you live any farther consider riding in your backyard and build your own stunts. See ya in Renton....

Good short trails for good hardcore riders. Riding the Slickrock is fun and something different for Washington. Ride at your own risk, and have lots of fun. Rides are best if done in laps for added endurance and fun.

Customer Service

This is about a 2Hr.loop and is some highly technical riding. There are four trails in the loop the Toaster, Blender, Smack Down and a new un-named trail built in April 2002.

This is good riding recommended for those with more than 4" front and rear. Enjoy steep drops with clean roll outs if you can get into the flow of the trail. It may take a couple of tries to feel comfortable.

Cool opportunities for hucking big. I've seen it done by Mark, so it is possible.

The trails are getting drier.

We are always looking for motivated free riders to build and suggest new stuff for a great place to ride in the coming years.

BIG thanks to Mark for showing these trails to me and Jeff and Joel who helped Mark build these trails.
