Dorey Park - Trail, Richmond, Virginia

Dorey Park - Trail, Richmond, Virginia

DESCRIPTION

Tight twisty fun singletrack. Not alot of elevation change except for the switchbacks on the "harder" loop. The twisting of the trail makes up for the lack of elevation.

Talke dto a guy from parks and recreation east end division and said that the bike trail is closed. He also said that a Mountain bike group was to talk to parks and recreation in Jan 2010 about funding and fixing the trail. Informant closed by saying no body has done anything about it so the trail is closed.

Dorey is ok for a after work ride, but it lacks any real challenge. Just glad I have somewhere to ride close to home. Its never crowded and seems I am the only one who rides. At the start of the trail, the sign says its closed, but that has been up for over a year now.

This trail is still open and maintained by locals. The signs will read closed but I still bike here. Don't recommend traveling to bike here, but if you live close and want a quick ride good place to go.

Well the signs still say that this trail is closed due to storm damage....but I went on it the other day. You will have to hike-a-bike over a couple of downed trees but other than that the trails are fine. Not to technical, but still fun. It is not worth a trip just for that, but if you live near the place, it is worth a stop.

Ok, so this isn't the most technical trail in the world. Don't expect tough log piles, greuling climbs, or rocky decents, there aren't any. However, what you can do here is shift onto your outer chainring and really open up on this trail. The biggest problem with this trail is that it doesn't look like hardly anyone is riding it. Some spots tend to be a little overgrown while I've actually lost the trail in a few other places. But definitely check this trail out, a lot of hard work has gone into this trail to bring mountain biking to the east end. It's excellent for beginners and it's a great place for a good high-cadence workout. With a few more riders to break the trail in a little, this could be a pretty good spot.

I have riden the trail quite a few times and have seen it grow. The county has done a great job setting up and marking the trail. It's also maintained really well. However, there is a lot of flats at first, (trail to the right) and if it rains, you may wanna avoid that part to avoid damaging the trail. Yes the trail is sorta easy "overall", but it can also challange you to pickup and maintain a faster pace. Not to mention its a great ride for those that are just getting into mtbiking.

I decided to try this trail on our record-setting 100 degree July 4th. Nobody else was there, and there were signs saying the trails were under construction and illegal to ride.
Overall, the trails were short and overgrown. I had a fun time, but got bored after one hour. The terrain is flat, except for a series of about 4 switchbacks that are tight and barely a climb. There were a couple of log crossings that were smoothed over with dirt, and wooden bridges covered with chicken wire.
A good effort;it is well marked according to difficulty level (it all seemed easy to me), but needs more. I'll ride it again, but I was disappointed at its size.
