Trails are in great condition, but it is very easy to get turned around and lost within the park. The trail maps need some serious updating. A great place to get a good history lesson and some decent excersise.

the trails are in pretty good shape in spite of the equestrian traffic during wet weather. they tear it up bad when its wet. there are numerous possibilities of loops within the double and single track that can easily get 10-20 miles in, especially if you dont mind crossing over some of the trails that have been ridden previously and add in the trail behind the museum.the 'waterline trail' that was closed for about 10 years is now open again also so that adds a 3/4 mile downhill or climb, depending on direction that is NOT open to horses
the scenery is awesome, especially if you happen to see the bald eagles that nest there, numerous deer ,occasioal fox, etc., and the history makes it worth the trip from Richmond or vicinity if you are into history, a laid back pace, taking time to watch the wildlife, catching some of the reenactments or just a trip out of town for a nice bike ride.
gravity junkies and freeriders should skip this place as its mostly historical earthworks so staying on the trails is a must but for a good fast or slow ride( depending on what you want) this place is a nice change of pace. it helps keep me sane with its peace and tranqulity. on a cold day or hot one I often have the park to myself and the park staff have done a tremendous job of repairing the equestrian damage from this past winter

Customer Service

a map can be gotten from the entrance shack and all trails have access to the main park road so the possibilities are up to the imagiation

Good trail system with easy access to Fort Lee . Majority of trails are double track, but some sections of single track are found. The trails are well maintained and hold up well even after a rain due to the amount of crushed rock that has been laid down. I agree with the previous review - not worth a special trip if you're not in the area, but it is a good trail for beginners or younger kids. If you work at Fort Lee , like me, it is a good ride at lunch or after work.

Customer Service

Ride it any direction and change it up the next time you ride.

Easy, accessible local trail great for local riders looking to get out without having to head up to Pocahontas/Richmond. Mostly double track with a few sections of single track, nearly all of it is open to hikers/cyclists/horses. The trails are well marked, with a shorter 4 mile loop with a few short climbs and a longer outside loop that runs nearly 8 miles. Probably not worth a special trip if you're not in the area, but I work right there and can ride it on the way to work/lunch/ or after work rides. Trail is well maintained by the park staff.

Only words of caution are the horses; they chew up the trails pretty badly in the dry weather. Ride early (mornings) to avoid them.

Customer Service

You can ride clockwise or counterclockwise, doesn't make a difference
