Rode this on 10/29/09. First off well marked trail. I had never ridden it before but it was easy to get a round with the map. On the red line there were lots of up hill but the down hill never really made up for the climb. It may had been the direction I was riding. Road most down hills pretty much wide open and never really had the fear a something really technical around the corner. Good all around trail, definitely a work out.

I went to the park while my girlfriend was interviewing at UVa. Just figured I'd get some riding in while I was waiting for her. Didn't expect much from a state park and series 2 mile loops. Paid $4 or so to get in and set off on the yellow trail from the first parking area. Headed up back to the entrance on I think the red trail. Rode the "tri and ride" trail back down. Wow was I surprised. this is a fun network of trails with ups and downs, twisty single track a few small jumps and roots/rocks to keep you entertained. Went around to the blue trail thinking it went around the lake. Unfortunately, the trail network doesn't seem to connect to the opposide of the lake so you can ride all the way around. Or it may and I just lost the trail. Anyway, spent an afternoon having fun. Best $4 I ever spent.

Customer Service

definitely include the "tri and ride" trail.

I'm from Athens, GA. (so the terrain is a little out of my element & it took me about about 40 minutes to get re-aquainted with rocks & boulders) I rode this trail 6-20-07 with a buddy who lives in the area. Fantastic trail, pretty tight and twisty with good rocks and roots thrown in everywhere. I think we rode everything here in about 1:40. This is a great trail close to town! Shout out to Ted and the trails crew/club for maintaining this place!

Customer Service

Ride it all! It rocks!

I rode today, 3/10/07, and the overall trail condition was great. There is some deadfall from the last period of heavy winds. The trails are mostly single track, with few obstructions. There is not a lot of technical stuff. A good ride is to park at the bikersd parking area, then ride the trail that runs back to the gaurd shack on the right hand side of then paved road. Get to the guard shack area, cross the road and follow the red trail back down. Go fasssst and have fun.

Psychobiker: what part of "multi-use trails" don't YOU understand? WC is not MTB exclusive, so please be respectful of runners/hikers.

This trail system is excellent for intermediate or better riders. It is not well marked, but it's small enough that you can't really get lost.

Customer Service

I prefer the trails on the far side of the lake... more challenging.

WC is a great system. It is a little confusing, but it's concentrated in such a small area that you'll never really get lost.

Customer Service

Trails on far side of the lake are more challenging, but it's been a while since I've ridden there. Just ride it all because it's all good.

This is a great trail network, I look forward to getting out there again as soon as I can. It is challenging, and that's what makes it great. An intermediate rider with good skills can ride the whole trail, it does have some technical sections, but it's fun to be able to make it through a section you couldn't make in the past. Good climbs, good downhills.

Nice technical trail. Needs a direction though, nothing like struggling up a rocky incline only to have someone coming the opposite way blow you off the trail. Some signage would be nice as well. Multiple trails make it confusing but if you stay to the left and only take the well worn trails you'll get out alive. Watch out for cross country joggers (what part of Mountain Bike trail don't you understand!).

Great trails! Can't add much as the previous review says it all. Besides the trails this park also has a fishing lake, picnic area, and swimming area with beach. Good if you want to drag the family along, and make a day of it.

Customer Service

see map at trail head/ boat ramp parking area. and go ride. Has trails for everyone, the black diamond trails are just that, nothing exterme but solid tech.

This trail system rocks. It's all wooded singletrack, and it packs a bit of everything including fast descents, doable creek crossings, small rock gardens, some good climbs and some very technical spots. The trail conditions were surprisingly great considering the high amount of traffic they must get. There are two climbs on the red loop that I have to say kudos to anyone who can make it all the way up the steep and rocky terrain. The rest of the trail system is very ridable for any intermediate and above skilled rider. Lots of fun - enjoy.

Customer Service

Went the day after Xterra race and just followed their signs. Started on the front left side of cycling parking lot and did the trails around the damn and on the left side of the road as you are coming in. Then crossed the road near the entrance station and followed the trail all the way around until it brought us to the front right of the cycle parking lot. There is a map in the parking lot to help plot your course.
