Preddy Creek Park - TRAIL

Preddy Creek Park - Trail, Charlottesville, Virginia

Preddy Creek is a multi-use park. Managed by Albemarle County Parks and Recreation. Hikers yield to horses, bikes yield to hikers and horses.

The main Preddy Creek Loop is 3.5 miles of fast flowy sustainable trail built by Charlottesville Area Mountain Bike Club and other volunteers using hand tools and light equipment. Funding was from CAMBC members and a BAMA Works grant of the Dave Matthews Band through Charlottesville Area Community Foundation.

The primary Preddy Creek loop is geared toward beginner to intermediate riders, but enjoyed by advanced riders as well.

The Advanced Mt. Bike Course (opening 2012) built by CAMBC is about 1 mile and has more climbing, drops, jumps, whoops and features to challenge more advanced riders.

The original trails at Preddy are old atv trails and fire roads located inside of the main Preddy Loop

This park is a work in progress through about 2014. Contact CAMBC to see how you can help.

I ride Preddy fairly often as it's so close to work that I ride after work. Go left from the trailhead and do a lap then again but then split off on the advanced loop which really isn't more difficult than the main loop. I don't bother with the trails that cut across. There are suppose to be more trails across Preddy creek but I haven't explored that side of the park. Watch out and be courteous to the occasional hiker/equestrian.

There will eventually be a pump track out by the parking lot.

Counter clockwise for a warm up lap, then again but take the Advanced loop. Repeat as necessary.

I really enjoyed this trail system. It was very fast with a lot of little dips for extra fun. Almost like riding a roller coaster. It would be a great place for beginners to learn how to mountain bike. It is fun enough for advanced bikers to enjoy as well.

Customer Service

My favorite trail was the Preddy Creek Loop. Smooth and fast with a lot of dips and slight ups and downs. The cross trails either rode the ridge or were short uphill/downhill and not as fun.

Flowing, fast and smooth. This was the first time I've ridden this trail, it was a little wet in the lower areas, can't wait for it to dry. There's no real technical areas and the climbs arent super steep. I'm still in the beginner catagory and I was moving along pretty good throughout the entire trail. I didnt do all of the cut through trails, so I dont know how many more hills or any other technical areas there are. This is a fun ride.
