Before you ride, you might want to stop by the Equinox hotel and pick up a trail map. The trails are generally wide open, some singletrack, but you'll have to do some initial climbing no matter where you start. For a nice long ride, start out by the pond (go up dirt road kitty-corner form Taconic Rd - park at the bottom) and work your way to the right. You can eventually connect to the Southern Vermont Arts Center. It's a nice ride for anyone as long as you're not wiped from the uphills.

sick fast downhills that hurt if you bail on. ride as fst as you can on the way up and then bomb down at speeds fast enough that pissing yourself becomes an option. I like them, plus it's never really crowded. Mad love to the green mountains and the hillbillys in those mountains. If you're not feeling that go to bennington and do it up near the monument.

Boy I came here and I was sure wiped out! And I didn't even get my Klein off my retro VW Bug yet. I was sore from the night before, so I put extra Northern Quilted tissue in my spandex trunks. This did not work. In fact, I immediately began to perspire and well let's just say I experienced a certain type of leakage from a certain type of activity. As you can imagine, I was quite a mess. Well, I refused to give up, so luckily my partner let me borrow his beret to wipe my shorts clean. I just threw the beret on the ground after I was done with it. So if you see a brown beret, don't pick it up, as I have Hepatitis B (only kidding, I don't have Hepatitis).

While "climbing to the top" Bruce and I had our first "technical" problem. He said it was because I didn't put enough lube on my chain. I offered to seal his bottom bracket, but he said that couldn't possibly be done. I said nothing is impossible if you dare to dream. I attempted to prove him wrong. So I grabbed on my stiff handlebar and I made the brakes squeal. Bruce said it would probably be best to attempt these repairs back at the Equinox, not we rushed out of the woods like giddy schoolgirls in trepid anticipation of consumating what we already started.

Well, whatever you do, you absolutely must stop by the several facotry outlets beforehand. They have the lovliest things. Be sure to get lots of crystal. And if they have it, buy glitter and be sure to glue it on. If they don't have Elmer's, use something else! Then I come here and break all the glass all over the place. Isn't that adorable?

Oh, please. But wherever you go, be sure to burn styrofoam cups. Besides being good for the environment, it is a heck of a lot of fun (and smells wonderful). Oh and don't forget your used motor oil. If you dump it into a babbling brook, a genie will appear and grant you three magic wishes. Good Luck!

steep technical, steep and rocky enough to scare the snot out of you some amazing sectoin with a large dropoff to one side to create a felling of vertigo. do not ride w/o full suspension, or if you chase to ride hardtail a very hairy set of balls. moto gear recommended. I give the trail five fenders out of five

for a sick, technical downhill thats harder than the mt snow expert course, have a buddy drive you up skyline drive with your bike and decend the red trail. would be perfect if you didn't have to pay a toll for the shuttle route.

I grew up here and rode these trails daily. See my description of the North-South Connector. If you ride the Snicket, find your way out to Powder Horn Road, just north of the Southern VT Arts Center. If you find the spring house at the end of the Snicket, just cross the stream and head downhill (kind of in someone's backyard so be cool). Take a left on the dirt road which is powder horn road. The NS Connector (unoffical name) will let you link Equinox trails with Beartown Notch, Three Maple Drive, Mother Myrick trails and other points north (Nichols Hill Road in Dorset, but last time I tried to do this it was pretty overgrown and a house was built on the trail). Unfortunately, you can't really do a loop here since the trails all butt up against the mountain.

Customer Service

Like everyone else said. Park at Burr and Burton (high school) or the water tower at the top of West Union Street if you don't ride to the trailhead. Zipcode is 05254 if you use mapquest.com
