Circumcision Highway - Trail, Essex, Vermont

This trail is pretty much overgrown. All of the stunts have fallen apart. It's sad that it feel to disrepair it was fun while it lasted. It's worth checking out just to see what stuff used to be in the woods here as it was pretty cool for it's time in the area. You're going to be doing lots of bushwacking and walking through mud here though.

Place sucks...clearly not riden or maintained in at least the last 5 years..surely would have been sick back in the day ..but is a death trap now. Alls but a few stunts are broken and dilapatated or unsafe to ride. One ladder bridge I chose to ride collapsed under me, dropping me 7 ft into a rocky stream bed.(Yes we checked it first) Totally unexpected as it held me and two other riders standing on it. I would not recomend this area to any rider as really theres nothing left to actually ride.

If you like freeriding, then this is the place for you. The bridges are fun, and the drops are insane. This place is easy to find and fun to ride. My hat's off to whoever made and maintain these trails. Keep up the good work.

this trail is super gnarly and new stuff pops up out there all the time. If you havent ridden this trail in the last month then you wont even reconize it on your next ride. The builder/builders for this trail really know their stuff. I havent actually met the builder yet, but i would kinda like to meet the guy whose been workin his ass off on the trail ive been riding for the last two years. Contact me if you care at all.

This trail is good stuff. It is more of an area then just a trail. The main trail with the bridges, ladders, skinnies, etc, is pretty technical with some nice to crazy ups and downs. There is also some nice riding branching off to the sides. I am moving up to VT soon and will certainly go back to ride this trail again. I would love to meet up with some of the builders and help out with some maintanance as some repair is needed of some of the structures. But, in all there is lots of cool stuff in there.

Customer Service

The start at the Essex Inn instructions are a good start then just keep looking for branches off the trail towards the highway. Lots of these elbows have stunts on them and bring you looping back to the main trail. I am sure that this area will require a few trips to learn where all the good stuff is.

Small area not worth driving to. If you live within riding distance of the Inn, chech it out. It has some man made stuff but nothing too nuts. A few six footers all to flat landings, some skinny bridges, none more than seven or eight feet high. Fun but short.

Not to honk my own horn, but the circ deserves more than a 3 flamer rating, the stunts and drops are well built and there is new stuff all the time. The trail does lack downhill but make up for it in fun technical sections. I suggest riding it with someone who knows the trail network well or you may miss some of the best built stunts. My count is nearly 20 stunts to ride in about two miles. ranging from a 2x6 over a stream to a 150foot elevated highway about 10ft in the trees. Sweet stuff that still gives me a huge adrenaline high.
