Black Forest @ Park City - TRAIL

Black Forest @ Park City - Trail, Park City, Utah

Awesome single-track that has everything. There are pine and aspen groves, upper-elevation meadows way-tough technical docents, switchbacks, and a lot of obstacles (roots, rocks, & water) on the track.

The trail system here is excellent. Hardpack, occasionally with powder is the rule, and often you'll find big roots and jagged rocks. Climbs are steep if you aren't properly conditioned. Stay away from far DV trails, as they're lift accessable, and thus rutted out severely as they are ridden by people who don't know how to brake properly. Climb for about ten minutes, and you'll likely see one or two people per hour if that.

Customer Service

Hard to say. There are a LOT of trails here. The trail that is technically named Black Forest is difficult to find. Your best bet for riding PC/DV is to pick up a trail map at one of the local shops--Cole, Jan's, White Pine all carry them free of charge.

Similar Products Used: My favorite trail is Ore Cart to Shovel, which starts at the top of the tailings at the 3-chair Deer Valley base closest to PCMR. The Ridge trail is fun, but should only be ridden by real men (and women, of course) who can make it up the Thanes climb. Unfortunately, if you go on the weekend you'll see lots of "weekend warriors" sporting Levis and beer guts. If you're a downhiller, try the NORBA pro course. You can't access it by the lift service though.

This is only one of many (and there growing) number of great trails in Park City. I love this trail because it gets less sun, and less usage than some of the other great trails in Park City. There is so much single track that makes you work, that this is a gem. I can really get on a roll and fly. that is why (if tou can find it) this one is truely special. Park city is a must for advanced riders. Tour de suds, spiro, Johns trail, T&G, new spin cycle (old was even better), 8000 ft. trail (conects PCMR to the Canyons resort) are all just as good, and not on this list.I could list three dozen more but why don't you check it out for yourself.

Customer Service

Park at the Wasatch Brew pub and take any number of trails from there.

Similar Products Used: Ridge ride (great western trail), all trails listed in my review. Some great loops in Dutch canyon, just off River Road on the way to Midway, Utah(15 min. from P.C.).
