Beaver Creek (Kamas) - TRAIL

Beaver Creek (Kamas) - Trail, Park City, Utah

First things first. The Forest Service charges a $3 usage fee for this trail. The trail is fairly easy trail. A great ride for first timers or the kids. There is a very slight uphill most of the way, but nothing serious. The first hill is the toughest. Ride this as an out and back. You'll pass several campgrounds along the way. The trail ends near the pine valley campground. The return trip is a balst. You can ride early or late and take in the secenery along the Mirror Lake highway (UT-150). This trail is also part of the ATV system so if you go on saturday you might see a quite a few ATV'ers. Not a problem on Sunday or during the week. The good thing about the ATV'ers is they pack a good trail. The trail follows beaver creek the whole way. There are also some really cool wetlands along the way. It's a good place to watch for wildlife. Be on the look out for Beaver's (of course), mule deer, mink, muskrat LOTS of ground squirles, etc. HAVE FUN !

This is a quiet trail that is not real exciting, but good for beginners. It is nearly all double-track dirt road. Only the end turns into single track, about the last mile, which I enjoyed the most. The cattle guards are entertaining to ride over - you'll see what I mean when you go. Take some kids with you and take your time riding, and you'll have a good experience. Returning or riding all the way back to the car is pretty fun too, since it is all downhill. Going up is very gradual and not too hard, except for overweight and out of shape beginners.

This is the kind of trail every cyclist should know about to take beginning cyclists out on. It is not strenuous at all, has a few really small climbs, and is decently scenic the whole way. The length offers newbies a sense of accomplishment. Beware of ATV's on the weekends and holidays, though.
