Bartlett Wash - TRAIL

Bartlett Wash - Trail, Moab, Utah

This trail could possibly be the best place I rode in Moab. I guess its not slickrock, like the slickrock found at SLICKROCK TRAIL, but its stone. This red tinted rock formation is huge...there is a great bike climb at the start. there is no white line to follow and no one was there...there were two pretty mad half pipes and two sides that just flowed...i mean it was just like a wavy section on the one side that made it seem like you were surfing...i absolutely loved this ride...it's all good

I prefer Slickrock to Barlett Wash. At first it seems cool to ride wherever you want, but it gets a bit boring after awhile. Jumping the 1.0-1.5 foot ledges are fun for awhile, but when they are not part of an actual trail, it gets boring. If I was skilled enough to drop into the toilet bowl or do the big drops, I am sure I'd enjoyed it better. Views are spectacular! Definitely worth doing at least once for the experience.

One of the best trails moab has to offer. about 20 miles away from moab on some rough back roads, it is there in all its glory. having ridden slick rock for a few years it seems more like an old friend than a new thrill. relatively few people know about and the few rider i met were riding it for their first time as well. i can promise that if you have ridden the slick rock trail and would like something different, try this trail!

Customer Service

First off- Dont use the GPS it threw me on the other side of the wash. take I-70 about 17 miles out then take blue hills for another 2 miles take the only left, then continue on until you start seeing bartlett markers.

Second- when you find the lot next to camp ground near the trees and wash, Park here. Then on Bike continue on road until you see a trail on your right, it will be hidden by trees but its there.

Great ride for a 1st timer to Moab. If your thinking about riding Slick Rock and are not sure, this is a good taste of what to expect. Ive been going to Moab for the last 5 years. This has always been my 1st ride of the trip. Mostly because I drive from SO. CAL. during the night and arrive in Moab about noon, then hit this trail. It is a good warm up to what the rest of the trip has in store, and after driveing all night I'm usually too tired & cross eyed to ride anything else. This trail can be as easy or difficult as you make it. This is why I only rated it 3 chili's

Follow the Rider Mel's Book. That book is the BIBLE for Moab.

Big slickrock area that you can just explore. If you go when it is hot, it seemed to me that the slickrock just amplified the heat so that is a downside, but other than that it is a ton of fun. The difficulty is as hard or as easy as you want to make it.

Customer Service

Just find the place and explore.

Remember riding a skate park on your bmx for the first time? Never ridden a bmx bike at a skate park? - do this ride. Just a wide open slickrock playground. If you can make it up the rock ramp at the trailhead, make sure you buddies see you do it or they won't believe you. Great intro to slickrock, I rode this the day before I rode the Slickrock Trail and felt totally comfortable on the world famous trail. A must ride if you're in Moab for a couple of days. The ratings can be a little misleading, because this ride can be as easy or as hard as you make it. I gave it an easy aerobic and difficult technical score, but someone else may give it the opposite depending on the lines you pick.

Good warm-up for other Slick Rock rides in the area. Nothing technical if you exclude the "hike-a-bike" up to the trail. One nice picture opportunity on a huge "gulley" down carved out of the middle of the rock right near the end of the trail. Worth doing as the first trail in the area.

Buy "Rider Mel's" guide to Moab. His directions to trail head were easy to follow.

I also had a little trouble finding this place, even with a map. Once there it was not totally clear were to go. Some hiking trails split off a road so I was not sure which to take. I first followed the road and it seemed to be a 4-wheeler road. I then split off on one of the trails and onto the slickrock. It was fun riding, but I never felt like I was on some kind for route with a particular destination. I did not see any mad half pipes, just rolling slick rock. I'll be back soon to try this again.

Customer Service

That's the problem here.

My favorite so far in Moab! Broke my seat of on a drop in to one of the bowls and had to go back to Moab to get it fixed after only 1 hour of riding. I will be back for more free riding here. Spent one night there camping, great for a moonlite hikes, also.

Only spent 3 or so hours here. Let your imagination go wild. There are plenty of drops, bowls and fun sections. I only saw 1/3 of the potential if not less.

Customer Service

as said before, let your imagination lead you but look before you leap.
