Three Peaks Loop - Trail, Cedar City, Utah

A fun 12 mile loop of singletrack and granite slabs. with excellent desert scenery. Snake Alley, the Rock of Doom, and the Minefield are some highlights. The main Three Peaks loop is a must, but there are other loops to add in for fun. Big Hole, Green Dart, and the USG race course along with the Three Peaks Loop total up to about 25 miles of great desert singletrack! Ask at Cedar Cycle in Cedar City for more specifics.

Great ride if your up for 12 miles. Wonderful tight single track with some technical areas thrown in like some slickrock and a occational drop off, but nothing too serious. Beggeners and advanced can do this trail. Just bring a lot of water.

The area has a lot of single track trails, along with
a lot of roads, and ATV trails. Thus, it didn't take
long to become completely unaware of how to get back
to the car. A good sense of direction, and it wasn't
much of a problem, and I think I found perhaps the right "trail" eventually, but it might pay to either
have a map or somebody who knows the trail with you.
Wish I had brought my GPS.

The riding here is great, and there are many loops to choose from, probably up to 20 miles or so of singletrack. These trails are fast and fun and offer a mix of both technical and fast sections. I wish I had riding this good where I live. You can get more info on these trails from the best shop I know of, Cedar Cycle in Cedar City.

Three Peaks is NW of Cedar City. Just go North on Minersville Hwy to Midvalley Rd and turn right. Go 3 miles at which point the road turns to dirt, then go another 3 miles. When you get to the big dip, turn right and park here. Follow the doubletrack a short ways and look for the singletrack that takes off left. From here there are some forks and road crossings, but just follow the bike tracks and you'll be fine.
I liked the main Three Peaks Loop the best, but Big Hole was fun too!

This trail is good almost year round, I rode it in December and found the trail to be in good shape. This is a great trail network with 25 miles or more of great singletrack. Some technical stuff and lots of fast sections. These Cedar guys are lucky to have this trail system.

Park at the swale and ride the Utah Summer Games Race Course. Most other trails branch off the route.

The Utah Summer Games Race course is my favorite and all other trails connect to this one. Big Hole, Three Peaks Loop, Lost World etc. Watch out for that first 100 yards or so on the downhill course, it can hurt! I hear that there is over 25 miles of singletrack out here, but I haven't ridden it all. There are fun rides for all levels of riders out here!

Customer Service

Park at the swale, 3 miles up Midvalley Rd from Lund Hwy. Just ride up the doubletrack for 50 yards or so until you see the singletrack peel off on the left. This will lead you to all the trails here.

There are some great trails to ride out here, all singletrack! Over 25 miles of it I'm told. I like the 3 Peaks loop the best. It's fast desert singletrack with some good technical sections thrown in, like Snake Alley, the Root of all Evil, the Rock of Doom and the Minefield. I try to keep a low profile and this area is not crowded, more of a local secret. If you ain't nothing but a hound-dog biker you'll love it out here. Put on your blue suede bike shoes and try out your best moves.

Customer Service

Drive up Midvalley Road about 3 miles from Lund Hwy. Pull off at the big dip in the road and park at the flat area on your right (thats before you get to the county park). Follow the double track and look for the singletrack which takes off on your left. This gets you into the trail network.

Similar Products Used: The Big Hole Loop (a.k.a. the Summer games Race Course), and Lost World, all out at Three Peaks.

Lots of options with the different trails. I really enjoyed the sense of humor of the folks who made the trail. The exercise bike was a treat.. along with the other artifacts. I enjoyed the 3 Peak route the best, especially with going through the lost world section. We did the ride unkowingly backwards the first time. It would have been nice to have had a map or local person around who knew the trail. It took us a while to get it all figured out. There are some technical sections through the "watch for rocks" that I got off and pushed the bike.

Follow the singletrack to the Northwest heading for the ridge. Once at the top, you go off the back side. Great winding and fast single-track with some technical bits thrown in for fun. Snake Alley is cool then keep right at the Vacuum Cleaner (you'll see). Watch for rocks, then go ahead and ride the SICK but rideable drop. Stay on the singletrack until you end up on a short section of road, keep right at the Y and you'll see the singletrack again. There is some flagging to mark the trail. The fast and twisty single-track continues right around the whole Three Peaks area. At the top of a steep climb (Cardiac Hill) you come to a scary but rideable problem called "The Rock of Doom". Just ride it, it's fine. The "Minefield" is totally rideable too! There is some Granite Slickrock then a lot of fast single-track to bring you home. Once your on the trail you are fine, but there are a lot of crossroads that can lead you astray. Most times when you come to a road you go staright across it, there is very little road or double-track here. Kudo's to those who put this trail together. I rode about a 12 mile loop and there was a lot more.

Customer Service

Park at the low spot on the right just before the County Park which is about 3 miles west of Lund Hwy, then just follow the doubletrack until the bike trail takes of on the left. Stay out of the fenced in area (too many ATV's).
