Pine Hollow - Trail, Alpine, Utah

Pine Hollow - Trail, Alpine, Utah

DESCRIPTION

If ridden from the bottom up, Pine Hollow starts out as a tough, steep, technical climb. After the trail makes two very tough switchbacks, it begins to moderate into a rideable climb up to Ridge 157 Trail. Ridden from Ridge 157 back down, Pine Hollow is as fun as any downhill in American Fork Canyon. The trail is also interesting because it is the most diverse ride in the area. You ride buff single track through meadows and forests, and then you ride steep technical scree slopes, rock gardens and switchbacks that will give experts cause to think twice.

This is a fine climbing trail, stout yes, technical yes, but a fantastic start to a day of beautiful riding. This trail will allow access to some of the greatest riding in the wasatch range.

Cross Country Rider

This trail is one more really fun downhill located in AF Canyon. I don't recommend it as a climb from the trailhead. The upper half has a couple of challenging climbs when ridden as a connector between the Timpanooke Trail and the Ridge 157. The lower half is best ridden only as a downhill, unless you're a featherweight or looking for an extremely challenging climb. As a downhill from the Ridge 157, it is everybit as fun as Tibblefork or Mud Springs, but isn't quite as long. Aerobic Rating score based on riding it as a climb. Technical difficulty for highspeed downhilling.
