Ray Roberts Trail (Isle du Bois Unit) - Trail, Sanger, Texas

Ray Roberts Trail (Isle du Bois Unit) - Trail, Sanger, Texas

DESCRIPTION

This is a shared use trail, you are sharing it with hikers and horses. There is really nothing much to this trail. It is very wide, and very bumpie. It has no major climbs and really no whoopie doo's. Its would be a good trail for someone out on a leisure ride or a beginner. You will need to get use to the smell of horse's cause there were a lot out there when we went.

Be aware that the trail description at the top is obviously not referring to the Isle DuBois trail. It's apparently describing the Ray Roberts Greenbelt trail which is nearby. Isle Du Bois is a great trail. It has three loops of fairly untechnical one-way winding singletrack that is fun and has some climbs that are a bit of work. There is a fourth loop (loop "D") that is a lot more technical in terms of rocks and is among the tougher trails to clean in the area. Nearly the entire trail is shaded. It is well designed and takes water well. Some spots get very sandy in between rains. It's a pretty park and I've encountered deer on the trail. I highly recommend it for XC types especially.

Customer Service

Trail is an expanding-loops type design so take the left trail off the trailhead and do all the loops or skip the D loop (marked "expert") if you don't like rock gardens

This is a nice trail. Lots of good hills, lots of rock. There are almost no flats. Definately worth the trip.
