Baumberger Park - Trail, San Antonio, Texas

DESCRIPTION

Baumberger Park on Babcock Road inside loop 1604 has a lot of smooth single track and is a network of trails. Old Babcock Road separates the park and the bird sanctuary where there is also a lot of good Single Track that heads down to the Leon Creek bed where new track is being developed all the time.

This trail system has a lot of different trails you can choose from. It would probably only take about 2 hours to ride all of them. OP Schnabel's trail system connects to this one and when combined can make for an exciting fast paced 2+ hour ride out and back. Fast single track with a few technical parts, I have ran into a log crossing and a man made ladder bridge crossing south of OP, not very many jumps or drops. Speed definitely adds to the excitement of this trail.

Customer Service

I recommend parking at the trail head on Hausman Rd. You can jump on the trails just north of the trail head. When you reach Bamberger hop back on the paved trail to avoid the rocky, slow, and boring creek bed. Catch the trails again at Prue road and they will let out at Bandera Rd. I have noticed trails on both sides of the creek bed past OP and will let out at Bandera. Turn around and head back. The faster you go the funner it is.

Everytime I ride at OP Shnabel I end up riding all the way to this park. It is connected by a trail... nothing too exstatic, but not bad either.

The trail between OP Shnabel and this park follows the extremely rocky riverbed, and if you go down riverside left, you will find a very interesting trail that you can take at a good speed.
