Dixie Farm Rd at Clear Creek - Trail, Pearland-Sagemont, Texas

Dixie Farm Rd at Clear Creek - Trail, Pearland-Sagemont, Texas

DESCRIPTION

There are 2 sets of trails straddling Clear Creek and associated drainage ditches. These are mainly used by ATV/4wheelers and motorcycles, but they are great bike trails! The soil is the same as Jack Brooks - hills made from dredgings made up of dark flakey "gumbo" - that is Great when dry, but mushy and almost impossible to ride within 3 weeks after a rain. Lots of whoop-de-woops, sharp climbs/drops, flowing singletrack - great for either X-country or freeride freaks. Not many exposed roots! Banana spiders, mosquitos, and snakes are local fauna. Trails along the ditches/bayous are great for warmup/cooldown. Doubtful they will ever be threatened by Development or land-management issues. Singlespeeders will like most of the trails - but everyone will have spots where they will have to portage (carry) their bike up a steep climb. These trails are not very IMBA or environmentally compatible - but they are extremely FUN. Ruts from ATVs are a managable hazard.

Not a bad trail. It is more of an ATV trail, but it works fine. It is about 1.5 miles from Dixie Farm Rd. to Scarsdale Blvd. It was nice and muddy when I went. They are doing some construction on Dixie Farm Rd. but the trail is still accessible. I plan to go back and ride it again.

The trail does not exist anymore. Developer has moved in and has groomed the area.

Great trails for Southsiders to enjoy instead of treking to Memorial Park and/or Jack Brooks. Kinda like a compact version of Jack Brooks with --less roots, --wider trails. Expect ATV and moto traffic. Use plenty of insect repellant (harmless banana spiders and nasty mosquitos) and sun-screen.
The Blackhawk/Scarsdale HNB trail is a great warmup/cooldown - a better MTB warmup is the trail next to the bayou, but does not have the potential scenary (i.e. running and walking babes) available at the HNB between 5pm-7pm.

Exit Scarsdale going west. Continue west until Blackhawk, then a short ways to the paved-hike-n-bike trail. Park at the parking lot for the 'park' take the HNB rail South. At the south loop of the HNB you'll see a clearing and some asphalt... ride until you see Dixie Farm then take a right/West. You will soon seen a large ditch which usually you can cross, then enter the first set of trails. The 2nd set of trails are West of Clear Creek and require a 100 foot ride along Dixie Farm road.

ALOT better trail than Frankie Carter park on 2351 (I called it by the wrong name in 1st review).
Easy access for riders from Pasadena, Pearland, Friendswood, Clear Lake, South Houston, Sagemont, etc.
