Fun trail ! Lost of technical stuff. Watch it when it has rained a lot. Take the others advice about Slime or repair kits (or go tubeless).......you will get flats ! Good trail map here.....
Customer Service Straight uphill from the parking lot to the south. Work you way to the west until you see the trail break out to the north and cross paved path to trail start. Follow arrows until the t in the trail and go right for a longer ride or to the left for a shorter ride. Ride ends back where you started but downhill................enjoy ! |

There is no time to over think your next moves on these trails. I ride them 3-4 Times a week and find them to be very challenging. Lots of twits, turns, climbs and downhill with plenty of stumps, roots, rocks and hills to negotiate constantly not to mention the forked trees and cactus to ride through. The park has expanded the number and difficulty of the trails to approx 13 miles that I know of and have ridden. For the area they are excellent and a paved portion for those rainy days. No excuse not to ride at the Mission Hike and Bike Trails. Great place for cycle completions as well. Customer Service Jack Hammer Trail

This is by far the best trail the Rio Grande Valley has to offer.
Customer Service The routes at risk of being lost are the best ones. Jackhammer, Pycopath, Easy Rider |

lately its way better(more than ten miles loop)and the "mission trails" guys did a good job!!!.tricky loose turns, ups and downs(some a bit technical)but for experienced rider its no big deal;narrow cactus laiden sections, occasional tarantula, bobcat, turtles, snake encounters(interesting).i personally love this trail which is perfect for training or just pedalling around and having fun, it needs to be ridden again and again to appreciate its character and night rides makes it more entertaining.....live..ride..and..have fun!!! Just as Harold says, its a great place to bike in the valley. Can't go too fast due to all the technical sections linked together, but it's fun trying! Crazy drops(widow maker, bike breaker) Fun drops(back drop, up and down, top of rattlesnake) Very Dangerous singletrack everywhere...LONG SLEEVES and protection and tools/spares REQUIRED. |

Today was my first time trying the trail and it was way better than I expected from the RGV. There are some really impressive downhills, jumps, turns, the whole works. My only complaint were some parts were really scary in terms of at any second you could slam into a massive amount of cactus LOL. SLIME the tires is a MUST as you could literally go through 3 tubes easily in a day. |
