I see that no one has written about this place in 7 years. Well...nothing has changed. It's likely the worst trail that I've ridden in about that same period of time. Hot, dry and perhaps acceptable in the winter on fat tires. Otherwise, I would suggest avoiding this place. Deep sand that even a camel would reject. Whoever put together the mapping and trail marking was on crack. The map given to you at the park entrance is opposite oriented from the maps found posted at the rest areas. Who decided that the top of a map would be East or West? They did both here.

Customer Service

Recommended route? My recommendation is to just keep driving until you find another place to ride.

Its a place to ride if you are in the area. Bring your sand wedge though you will need it. The only technical part of this trail is being able to read the the map and understand it. You can get lost in here. It is flat and sandy. Anyone should be able to ride here. Unless you are a train stay off the rails to trails. The trail is a road. Stay on the pavement and go fast and get is shape.

Customer Service

Just point your bike down any trail and ride it. It does not take long and other than the sand you can blow through this thing quick.

This trail system has varied terain and skill levels. There are several single track that is flat but has tight turns and meanders through thick woods. There is also a Rails-to-Trails Ride that is very beginer(Could seriously take your road bike on. this is a twenty mile each way trail that is practicaly paved with finely crushed limestone. There are gradual inclines and the desents you can coast for long distances. There is a public lake at each end of the trail. The Camping Facilities are great and there is also some rock formations popular with climbers. Can't say enough about the cool stuff out there.

Customer Service

Take the back trails that entwine with the equestrian trail.

There is a reason this used to be a railroad. Even the horses get bored.

when you get to Miserable Wells, turn left and go to Cleburne.

Barely any shade for 20 miles. Nothing technical. When you do see someone and you say "Morning" or "Hello" they just ride past. Might as well talk to the cows and horses along the trail. I have seen wildlife including deer, bunnies, and snakes. Don't be the first on the trail in the morning or you will eat spider webs for most of the trip (This is the voice of experience speaking.).

I guess it's good for distance riding if you don't want to get run over by cars. The six mile climb from Mineral Wells will test your endurance in the 100 degree Texas heat.
