BAR H - TRAIL

BAR H - Trail, Dallas, Texas

Hills, hills, and more hills. Bring a lunch, and some power bars. They have water there, but it tastes like "@#!$" well you know. $6 bucks as I recall. And a shower kinda, well it's sprays water on you and is enclosed.

Closed. This was once a great set of trails, the best in the area. It has fallen into disrepair and has been closed and removed from the DORBA websight. I beleive the land owner/manager has some legal issues. Hope the best for them and the ranch.

rode horeshoe and devil's backbone and back on earls way.....

devil's backbone is the tuffest trail in texas...4.5 miles with over 2500' elevation change. i checked myself into a muenster beir-haus for fluid replacement

IMPORTANT :review the website (http://www.barhbreaks.com/our_trails.htm) .

this interactive trail map describes each trail section. you can piece together a ride to fit your talents and abilities. pre-plan your ride as currently there is no map at trail head. trail junctions are marked but no big ole TH orientation map. you'll be shooting from the hip if you don't.

wonderful complex of trails with water and showers and bathroom. $6.00 daily fee. camping too.

Here is a link to their website www.barhbreaks.com Over 20 miles of trails.....beautiful singletrack's....all levels. Bring a full camel back and don't even think about goin out without a map. First time I went they were out of maps and my friend and I got turned around and were out there until 11:30pm lost....it was a blast, but a little scary without a light, good adventure though. I go out at least once a month...it's about 1.5 hours drive from where I am in Wichita Falls, TX. I just started riding this place in May......so I cant wait until this fall when it cools off, thats when it will be really nice out there. It is open all year except during deer season.

Customer Service

The most fun is the Hole in the Tree..... it's al down hill and you get going fast with some nice little embankment turns and drops.

Do NOT use the trail map/location listed above (near San Angelo) unless/until corrected to find Bar-H, it is nowhere near San Angelo (a few hours away).
Backup to the Texas Trails "Other Cities" listing and find Bar-H (not this Dallas listing), and it has the correct location on it.

This is one of the toughest trails in the region if you take the right trails. something for everyone...counter clockwise down the oaks is a fun warm-up. If you want hills........go west.

-H is an absolute jewel, located in the Red River region the terrain opens up only as you approach the ranch. This is a professionaly designed network of trails and are MTB specific.

Don't drink the water.

If you meet a guy named "Gizmo"...be afraid, be very afraid. This trail is worth a drive folks!!!

My rating is based only in relation to North Texas trails...enjoy!

Customer Service

if your a hearty rider then warm up by climbing up Horseshoe...wail down the back side at breakneck speed and then make your way back to the devil's Backbone! Horseshoe will be a nice lil' warmup for your legs...you will need it. The Backbone will wear you down. STEEP inclines and sharp descents...good, no great stuff! With whatever stamina you have left ride the rest of the trails.

Had a great time on these trails and there is something for everyone. It's only about an 1 1/2 hours north of Dallas and is well worth the drive. Be sure to pick up a map at the front and take it on the trail. The trails cross over each other in spots and it's easy to get turned around. It definitely gets 5 stars for a Texas trail.

This is probalby my favorite trail in the Dallas area. With about 20 miles of trails there's something for everyone but you're never too far from the car to take a quick lunch break. Gets insanely hot in the summer but find me a trail in Texas that doesn't. Overall its definitely worth the drive and in relation to other trails in the area I have to give it a 5.
