Germantown Greenway - TRAIL

Germantown Greenway - Trail, Germantown, Tennessee

A good portion of the trail is paved, but some areas have had the paving washed away in heavy rains. However, these areas ride just fine. This is a good beginner's trail, offering a good ride with nice scenery.

there's a paved part which is boring and a two mile, tight, wicked singletrack section that comes off the main trail. it's sort of hard to find.

if you park at chick-fil-a, you can ride down to the paved trail which is visible from germantown parkway (just north of chick-fil-a), and head east on the trail with the wolf river on your left side. once the trail opens up and you see the small lake on your right, there is a poorly cut trailhead between the privet bushes off to the left side. go down that.

alternately, you can head east on wolf river boulevard from germantown parkway, and there's a small parking lot and trailhead on the left (north) side of the road once it curves to the right and you pass the gastroenterology building on your left.

This paved trail is perfect for the beginner or for those of us who are trying to get in shape. It's a nice quiet place away from the main roads where you can work up your strength if you're not quite ready for those tough off-road dirt trails. Or, use it for a peaceful, relaxing time to casually ride around and enjoy the scenery. It's also an excellent place for the little ones to roam around without the worries vehicles being nearby.

Similar Products Used: The off-road dirt trails along the north side of the Wolf River are great if you're ready for them...be ready for a workout! The parking area is around the north side of the Wolf River bridge, and the west side of Germantown Road. Shelby Farms is also a great place to ride, with several miles of hilly paved pathways, and several more miles of off-road dirt trails...very challenging!

The ex-Walmart building is gone. Park behind Chik Fil A, that is where the trailhead begins. After passing under the bridge you have a fork. To the left is about 2.5 miles of paved. Beware of little old ladies tearing it up! The right fork is only about .75 mile, but there was a single unpaved trail off to the left. I rode it for 100 yards until my Candy C broke. I will investigate after my new SL gets here. The trail held promise.

This trail is a meandering paved, mostly flat, stroll through some woods along the river's edge. Its pleasant but not challenging. Nice family ride. (Training wheels optional)

I actually haven't had a chance to check out this trail, but thought I'd let anyone interested know that the Wal-Mart is no longer open. But considering how often Wal-Mart shuts down stores (and opens new ones blocks away), you should be able to tell the building that used to be wal-mart.
