browning mill area - TRAIL

browning mill area - Trail, exeter, Island

There are many single tracks located in the Browning mill and dove crest area. They are clearly marked either blue, yellow, or white dot. From the parking lot take a right and ride on the road for about a 1/4 mile(stay left at the fork in the road) and you will see a trail head on either side of the road. enjoy! Rocky and rooted like the rest of the riding in the area!

The loop around the pond can cure all my worries. I love finding new places to take my dog, and this two mile trail is just where it's at! The atmesphere is incrediable. Just the other day a friend and I went on the trail. Of coarse my 10-month old black lab. came too. While he is busy finding sticks and wagging his tail we just admired the pond itself. Steam rose from water and I feeling of peace and calmness came over us both. It is better than New Hampshire.

NEMBA does their fun rides here in the spring and fall and they are lots of fun. The trails give everyone a good ride. Typical rocks & root riding with some technical climbs and decents as you move away from the pond. Mostly flat and rocky around the pond area. Get into the trees for the best single track. If you connect into arcadia trails and can easily bike for 20 miles. Can be tricky getting around if you're not familiar. Just give yourself leyway time. Not all trails are marked. Arcadia's trail maps are ancient and do not include any unmarked trails(of which there are numerous). Another consideration is hunting. You must wear flourescent orange and hunting is 7 days a week. I checked out NEMBA's fun ride and that helped alot with figuring out trails.

The trailheads given above are the best places to start. You can also go left from the parking area and do a quick & rocky loop around the pond and then continue to the other two trailheads which branch off in all directions. They hook up with the trail system in Arcadia (ie. Shelter and Breakheart)by way of the N/S trail.
