Lincoln Woods - Trail, Lincoln, Island

Lincoln Woods - Trail, Lincoln, Island

DESCRIPTION

The best riding is in the north. I do a clockwise loop. There are too many options to mention. Be sure to ride above sites 27 and 9. 36 to 4 is a great downhill. The trails come in all shapes and sizes. There are some sick lines that you can take down and across the Table Rock area. Explore, then go swim in the lake.

Intense! That is one word that I can use to accurately describe Lincoln Woods. LW probably has the burliest riding in RI. The hills are steep and the drops are big. Of course there are easier ways around the drops too but what fun is that?! To ride LW you definitely need a good set of lungs and in some cases a big pair of kahunas. The climbs are tough and you will surely need a nice long breather by the time you get to the top. The descents are super fast with some sick rollers, step ups, rock gardens and in some cases an unsuspecting drop which is why I would urge beginners to use some caution with descents if you are unfamiliar with the trails. LW doesn't have much for the cross country riders and is certainly not SS oriented riding (although I did it for a whole season bc it was the only bike I had).

LW can be tough on tubes too. Actually LW is thee only place I have gotten a flat when mountain biking (actually I have gotten a pinch flat virtually every time I ride there!!). With that being said you might want to run your tire pressure a bit higher than you normally would. The trails at LW arent real loosey goosey so you should be fine with the higher PSI's.

Overall there is some awesome riding at LW and some truly sick stuff if you have the skills and kahunas to give it a go!

When I could actually find trail it was beaten and unmarked. I certainly dont turn my head to a hard trail but these were simply annoying. There was many trails that started off promising and ended up ending at some point because they hadnt been ridden in years. Most the trails didnt stray very far from the road and went through each campground and crowded picnic area so I never really felt like I was on a trail to begin with.
This is some of the worst riding ive done in New England.

LW is pretty good. I am new to this and my buddy took me out for my first real trail experience last weekend. I was doing good so we hit some pretty technical stuff. There is a sick short uphill climb with rocks on both sides....gotta get that after a few more tries. If your new to the sport ( like myself ), be up for the challenge, both mental and physical. You'll get an awesome workout here. You'll also be scared as hell when your flying down a trail and come up on a down hill drop with rocks, roots and boulders in your path. F%^&ing Awesome.... I busted my a$$ a few times and that was awesome too.

Customer Service

We took a right after entering from 146, went all the way down to the parking lot;got our bikes and then took the road all the way up into the park, past the lake and hit a trail on the left at the stop sign.

I like to traverse the ridges starting in the north. There are so many options to take, so every ride is different. It's not crowded. Visibility is good. Not too sandy or rocky or muddy (but you can find that if you want). Just check out the landmarks and you'll have a fun time getting there.

What ever happened to the trials playgroud????I have not ridden at Lincoln Woods in a few years so I hope you all have kept the spirit alive! I was the guy who cleared a lot of the crap out of the way and built some serious obstacles!Oil drums, big rocks ,huge down trees,..guard rail bridges....I can only hope the trials and extreme riding scene is as strong as always! I could always count on meeting a bunch of riders all in shin pads and the like!!!!I miss that but I got swwEEEEET terrain to work with up here so its all good!Keep the spirit alive....EAST-COAST RULES!

Customer Service

there are a couple entrances....one is free

LW has lots of fun technical trails. If you look hard enough you will find 2-8 ft drops and some good downhill and uphill trails. The biggest downfall of LW is the distance, 30 min and you will have ridden all that LW has to offer.

I have found LW a good place to train on hill and technical stuff. Do a few loops of the place and a great workout will be had as well as some fun intermediate/expert level biking. Good views of the pond. Nice park all and all but a bit crowded at times.

Customer Service

Ride the back section. Enter the trails by the guard house at the main gate just to the left.

NICE small park. lots of short technical DH type trails that you can ride backwards if you want, for whatever reason. Variety of drop offs and stuff(all natural)nice rolly trails.
Only thing, it is not a XC place so the trails dont all connect into a loop or whatever.
KEEP IT CLEAN & NATURAL PLEASE~ 5***** now, lets see if Aholes dont destroy it for us!

Customer Service

route 123 west in Lincoln, turn left into the park, or 123 west past main entrance, letf at Texaco gaser uper, left at next light, go straight into park!
DONT CUT ANYTHING DOWN & TAKE YOUR LITTER HOME WITH YOU! or else....

If you like foxboro,or nam go check this place out.Nice
technical downhills, rocky sections, all sorts of stuff
to jump off of (rocks, boulders).you can easily find some 2 to 4' dropoffs just off the main road.but you better like climbing, gotta pay your dues for those
downhills.

Customer Service

There is some pretty technical riding in Lincoln Woods. Some of the downhills can be killer! The boulders by the pond are easily taken, but a lot of fun. If you can get through without getting off the bike, you're doing pretty good. Some of the trails need work and are becoming unrideable.

Customer Service

Follow recommendations in the book, "Mountain Biking in Southern New England." Just make sure you go by the ballpark, the pond, and on the boulders.
