swarthmore - TRAIL

swarthmore - Trail, Swarthmore, Pennsylvania

this trail is very technical. awesome climbs and super technical downhills. short loop but many trails intersect to make a nice run for an hour. many rock few hidden planks with big drop offs on other side. and many fine women up on the campus . if you need back up water there is a track for running w/ an outdoor water fountain ,enjoy . its a great traing ride like i said steep ass climbs

Roughly 3 loops of maybe 6-8 miles depending on how you do it. I ride here all the time.

Note: the local IMBA club has taken steps to work with the County to rebuild and maintain the trails in Smedley Park, if you ride there please see the following website and email. There is a trail build day Sat. May 11th at the park. I'll try and post info as necessary.

This trail system "used to be" sick. Sea-saw drop in, corkscrew's, fast bank-burms, tables tops and hips, fast single track and the county -- TORE IT DOWN -- ...its ALL gone. I guess the trails could still be ridden, but at this moment it's a muddy and mostly flat mess. I am not sure why this town would tear it down. It's clearly a ride at your own risk type of situation. I would venture out to say that it used to be one of the best free-style all mountain parks around. Now that it's gone, you are better off going to down the road to the Brandywine. Bummer, I am going to miss the SWATH!

Trail is an awesome loop. Uphills and downhills. There are a few very technical sections, rock gardens, a few logs, and crick crossings. Loop is about 3.8 miles, but if you cross over Wallingford rd. and follow the crick, you can enter into smedley park and make a loop to probably 8-10 miles. There is trail markers with yellow paint. Love it here.

Customer Service

Enter off of 320. Park at the squash courts. ( I believe) then take the road downhill, trail head will be on your right.
