Sewickley Heights Park - Trail, Sewickley Heights, Pennsylvania

Sewickley Heights Park - Trail, Sewickley Heights, Pennsylvania

DESCRIPTION

Singletrack, fire roads, rock, etc. The trail has a good mix of everything. There are some insanely fast technical downhills if you look for them. There are also quite a few steep descents through creek beds. Tons of logs and usually fairly muddy. The main trails are marked to help with nvigation. The further you get away from the parking lot, the less people and dogs you will run into. Watch out for horses!

Wasn't worth the drive with North Park being closer. Lots of trail damage from horses. A lot of trials head straight downhill and get washed out. Not sure who came up with that bright trail idea. A few places of OK single track, but a fair amount of hiking. A lot of the trail is wide horse trail as well. If you are there you might as well get out and ride, but don't go for the trails.

The trails in this park are very nice. It is used by people, horses and dogs. Please please please be courteous and do not run over people and their dogs. Everyone is out for a nice time in the woods. The person that is walking in front of you could be deaf and may not hear you. Please please please be courteous. I was bumped by a biker today when I could not get out of the way fast enough. Thanks.

short and fun. nothing too technical but you should watch out for dogs horses and walkers. if you live in the area you should go, but there are very few trails at that particular park.

If you are riding in sewickley then you should go to Woodland Swimming pool and ride that short trail. Thats not in sewickley heights park per say but its much better and its close enough. Its on the right in front of the pool. There is one fork in the trail in the first 100 meters... stay to the left on the fire-road up a huge hill. dont forget your helmet on the way back down the other side.

The trail can get pretty muddy if it gets a lot of rain. It has some really fun technical sections but is mainly dominated by twisting (but not tight) singletrack. If you end up on a very long downhill, you will probably end up down on Fern Hollow and have to ride back up the driveway. No biggie, but a lot of work and not too much fun. Just go exploring and you will find a lot. There are trails on all sides from the parking area.

Park in the parking lot at the top of the hill. Many trailheads available from there.

Great variety in trials, fast, relaxed, technical, it's pretty much how fast you go that determines the difficulty. I've wiped out here. The mud is fun too. If you're in the area, you obviously know the place. If not, check it out.

Try the trials behind the Sewickley YMCA- they can be some fun, fast downhill, but also can lead you into the heights to Sewickley Heights Park.
