Shevlin park - TRAIL

Shevlin park - Trail, Bend, Oregon

Take the first trail past the house. Its a good beginner trail, with some short hill climbs. watch for hikers, dogs, and rocks. a few trails to take off the main one too. A few bridges to cross. Once on the other side of Tumolua creek all kinds of trails and old logging roads to ride.

fun little trail with a couple options. mainly xc with the a couple short sprint hills. nice older growth scenery with river views and crossings. When I did it seemed to be alot more runners with dogs and people just hangin out in the park, so you gotta watch your speed.

Customer Service

Nice scenery but lots of people and dogs. The park is a good jumping off point for a large complex of trails southwest of the park in the national forest.

Customer Service

Take the trail that starts on the east side of Tumalo creek. Stick to the high ground until you break out onto a log road. From there a left turn will bring you into skyline road where there are numerous trails. Turn right and you will wind up on the trail head that goes back into the park on the west side, that is also where you can pick up the Mrzack trail. A map would be a great help in this area. You can download a great one here: http://www.traditionalmountaineering.org/images/maps_usfs_recreation.jpg For some reason this map is not available from the forest service

a ride around the upper rim of the park is great for doing laps, share the trail with walkers, get off your bike and let em by as oppsed to trying to squeeze by, since the trail is narrow and steep on the sides. this is one of only two trails i would reccomend to others as it is already well known.

About 8 miles. This is a great quick ride for bikers visiting Bend. It offers some very nice river front singletrack. When in Bend, go to Hutchs or Sunnyside bikes and ask for THE Map. Don't be cheap, for $10 you'll buy the keys to the Middle Kingdom! On the Shevlin Trail you'll have fast twisty trail and some great views of the Tumalo with the ever=present Mt. Bachelor in the background. Big fun, little pain!

Customer Service

For the visitor, drive down Newport road from downtown across the bridge, this turns into Shevlin Park road. On the left in about 4 miles you'll cross a bridge. The Park's parking lot is on the left. After parking, go on down to the river (Tumalo) and find the foot bridge. Climb a steep trail for 200 feet and try to make the two switchbacks. Next go south (right) and follow the loop around the park.

Similar Products Used: Shevlin is great for a quick ride. To extend your riding pleasure you can connect to the Phil's trail system and add another 20+ miles of singletrack. Not enough you say? Continue to the of Skyliner road for epic rides in the 30+ mile category. Shevlin and Phils are pretty much year round trails. Anything above them is great in the Summer and Fall, but in the Winter it's time to change gear!

IT WAS A GOOD FAST TECH TRAIL CLOSE TO TOWN.THEY PUT WATER BARS ON IT BUT, EROSION WAS NOT A PROBLEM THERE. THEY ALSO PUT TIGHT CORNER IN WHICH SOFTEND THE NICELY PACKED TRAIL AND KILLS YOUR SPEED.I THINK THE GOALS OF THE TRAIL MAINTIENCE WAS TO DISCOURAGE BIKING.

you need to be experienced and be able to control the bike if you don't you could fall off the trail into a cliff to the right side of the beggining of it. Climb the cliff near the end to experience a good ride up and a fast ride back down.

Customer Service

Start at the top of the trail by shevlin Park Commens and take the trail from there to the Parking lot at the bottom
