Bluff Creek (Lake Hefner) - TRAIL

Bluff Creek (Lake Hefner) - Trail, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Very tight trail. Thick trees with quick turns. A few very short but very steep hill climbs. Some roots that may require riders to dismount. No impossible climbs. Beginners will waqnt to take it really slow

Tight twisty singletrack. The trail crosses over a dry creek bed many times giving you quick up and downs. Think lots of roots and switchbacks. It is well designed for the small space that is in and a lot of fun to do a couple laps. However on weekends it can be a little crowded for my liking.

Simply put- Tight and Twisty. You ride up, down, and along the creek bed. There are a lot of roots to ride over but not impossible.

I'm from New England. Mountain biking is much different mostly in the form of mountains and granite. I'm a down hill skier that loves to ski in the trees. This trail is awesome. It is about as close as I can get to skiing. It requires good use of balance and eyes focusing on the lines between the trees. Good workout and fun!

Bottom Line: Very fun little trail, but don't go out of your way to ride it. It's too short to invest a drive into. For what it is (3-4 miles?) it is a very fun ride with some good technical sections in the trees and will test your balance and handling skills. It is faster than it used to be, thanks to OEF! It is definetely being constantly improved.

It’s an awesome and fun trail, especially since it’s in the city (and for me close to home). There’s a little bit of everything on this trail - roots, tight turns, bridges and drops. Thanks to OEF, its well maintained. Great workout if you ride hard.

ROAD WARRIOR   Cross Country Rider [Aug 18, 2008]

Great trail. Is only 4 miles long, but a lot of fun. Can be ridden slow (30 min. laps) for a easy ride. Or fast (21 min) for a real aerobic / techical work out. Good trail for all skill levels.
Lots of roots, short drops, bridges, tight section, and a few fast sections. Lots of fun in a short trail.
Trail sees a lot of use by bikes and trail runners. Also needs 48 hrs. to dry after heavy rain.

OEF does a real good job keeping this trail rideable. I give it a 4 for techical because of the rooty ups and downs with switch-backs. I am used to steeper climbs, so I never change gears. If you are a beginner, do this trail, just ride it slower. I spooked a hiker last weekend, but she will survive. If you experienced, blast through it 3 times. I lost count of how many bridges in the first 3 minutes of the ride. 5 I think. Cheers

Fun warm up trail. OEF does a nice job keeping it rideable. I am used to riding uphill for 1.5 hours, then hitting trails like this. The trees and switchbacks use the most the land available. Not sure why it is labled as exp riders, but whatever. I am taking my beginner wife out to learn on this one. -Roots are easy when you are fast over them. I never changed gears; making me rethink going to single speed.
