Gibson Park - TRAIL

Gibson Park - Trail, Jamestown, Carolina

Located just off Wendover between Greensboro and High Point. This is a series of trails that are along the Bicentnial Greenway. None of the trails are not too technical (mostly doubletrack with some single), but it is a good place to have a easy ride. Most of the trails a VERY short which can actually be nice so you can work on certian skills. Be careful not to go on any of the hiking only trails, but there are not many signs so you may end up on one. Great cool down on the greenway when you finish. The blue trail is the most technical (I think it is meant for walking). No real trail maintenance which makes it kinda fun to ride. Not much traffic at all, I''ve only seen two other people on it in about 2 months.

Don't get me wrong, I love Hobby and Tanglewood and some others, but for an afterwork workout, these trails are great. (especially since I work in High Point, most other parks a bit too far away) But seriously, nothing too difficult, mostly roots. You can go pretty fast. Just watch out for joggers. There are more trails than it may seem at first, you just have to find them. There are also actually some rather challenging single tracks with switch-backs and some nice climbs. There are only one or two trails that say "no bikes" and even then the signs are missing half of the time. Overall, great place to get the heart rate up, the paved greenway is great way to cool down, never too far from car (unless travel to end of greenway), decent challenge on some trails, great for afterwork.

start at Gibson, follow wide trail behind picnic tables. Trails branch off from there. Go straight and leads to a clearing with 3 possible trails. DO NOT use trail on far right, it only goes in about 400 yards and just ends. Straight is a rather challenging trail with a few branches off of it. Left is a fast double (?) track. They all can lead back to the park either by another trail or certainly by the greenway, so it is almost impossible to get lost. Also, you can go down the greenway towards Jamestown park and there are some trails under the powerlines that are quite fun and challenging. Its not Hobby or Owls roost, but still fun and fast.
