Jackrabbit - TRAIL

Jackrabbit - Trail, Hayesville, Carolina

Stacked loop design will appeal to all skill levels. Built specifically for mountain biking but hikers welcome. Combination of fast/flowing to tight/twisting; some technical features include 75 foot rock crossing, elevated ladder bridge on advanced trail, to small rock crossings, whoopty-do's and dirt jumps on intermediate loops. Great for families as well. Located on very scenic peninsula off recreational Lake Chatuge with adjacent campground.

I am on vacation so I now have ridden it twice!

Perfect for beginners and serious riders.Very fast and smooth. I didn't know you could have mountain bike trails without roots??. No serious up, or downhills but pretty fast nonetheless.

If you are beginner, if stay on the Central loop and you will feel very comfortable. A beginner in good shape can ride anywhere.

For those who have been riding a while you will not be challenged but you will have fun. Also, a great workout because to keep your speed up you have to keep pedaling the entire time.

By far the best signage I have ever seen on any trail.

My only complaint is you get close to the lake but there are a lot of trees and shrubs that block what looks like a potentially beautiful view. If you live here or are visiting, make sure you ride it.

Customer Service

White - Central Loop - beginner, medium to low fitness
All but the Yellow trail - beginner with good fitness
All the trails if you have experience - not challenging but a lot of fun.

A hybrid bike could be ridden as well. There may be literally 2-3 places where you may decide to walk the bike - and that is just a single obstacle, not walking any sort of distance. If you are light on your bike, you won't even need to walk the bicycle.

So, strangely enough, this "little" trail system turned out to be one heck of a hidden gem on a recent week long MTB trip to NC. We rode both Dupont and Tanassi Whitewater prior to this and were a bit let down by both. Rode Tsali later in the week.

Where Dupont and Tanassi seemed to have lots of double track and fire road type connectors, Jack Rabbit is an exercise in pure single track. The trail is fun, fast, pumpy and flowy. Also, I have ridden trails all over the country and this little system has one of the best trail markings I have ever seen! Kudos to the trail stewards here! There is nothing more frustrating then coming to a trail system from out of town and having to guess what trail is what and stop constantly to verify your route and position! (a map is only good if the trail is accurately marked!)

Anyway, we ended up doing two laps of everything and then headed back in with a couple beers at the end of our ride to sit at the edge of the lake and relax!

If you're in NC to ride Dupont, Tanassi, Tsali, etc, this little system is definitely worth the trip. There is a nice picnic area at the trail entrance and it's pretty quiet and peaceful. Great way to spend an afternoon riding! There were about a half dozen or so other riders at the picnic area, but we only ran into two during our ride.

We rode this trail System during a Tsali Weekend. It was worth the hour drive from Tsali. The trails are groomed fast and flowy. There is one primary Loop with several loops that leave and return to the main loop. the system is well maintained and very well signed. there is fun here for Novice to Expert. To find The trailhead follow US 64 to NC 175 to Jackrabbit rd you will see the sign from there. We had a Blast

Customer Service

Pick the loops that you want, difficulty is noted. only one loop has significant climbing and nothing is real Technical

I was on vacation mid July, so after riding Tsali and the ridge trail behind Nantahala outdoor center, I was informed of a great trail down around Hayesville.
The guys at Noc were helpful and turned me on to this trail.
Let me tell you , if you are in western North Carolina you must ride this trail!
Flowy, twisty, groomed singletrack at its best .
Sorta like a condensed Tsali with fast hardpack little climbing and just a nice flow.
Also the best marked trail system I've ever ridden.
ride all of it, savor it as its only about ten or so miles. great loops and if you haven't
had enough , do it twice!
Good job to the trial crew who laid this one down!

Customer Service

Ride clockwise after a short trail from the parking lot that leads to the first "white"outer loop.
Take the trail to the right have a blast and grind to your hearts content!

Great trail!!! Some friends and I rode Jackrabbit earlier today and all I can say is what a blast! This trail would be great for all skill levels. Very fast, very flowy singletrack. Very little elevation change except for the highpoint trail. The trail also had a few very beautiful views of the lake and the surrounding mountains.

My wife and I rode this trail system for the first time. What a great system of trails. SABA has done a great job in developing this area for mtbing. We enjoyed all of the trails, enjoyed the views of the lake, and enjoyed the cow bells!

We will be returning to these trails.

Customer Service

Strat on the main trail and ride counter clockwise and complete each trail as you encounter them.

We visited Serenity Cove Cabins just down the road and had seen this link on their website. So glad we did. We are certainly not professionals and can't really can't comment as to how it compares to other trails, other than the one near our home in Ft. Meyers but my entire family enjoyed it and would recommend it to your entire family.

If you want a newbie to fall in love with mountain biking, bring them here 1st! Immaculately maintained trail system. Very few technical features, only a handful of climbs over 50 ft long. Fast & furious. I think they even use a leaf blower on parts of the trail. I will be back. Only downside... there's only 15 miles of trail. CX bikes would do fine too!

We drove up from Woodstock GA as we had rain and most of our fav trails were closed. Great set of trails. We dont consider ourselves in great shape, but made it through all the trails with a little hike a bike as the leaves were thick and trails a little wet.

We will be back but expect to rent a cabin and ride for 2 days! Not as technical as Blankets South loop or some other N GA trails. Fast and flowing like Tsali but fewer tech spots. A lot of fun!

Customer Service

Ride them all, about 14+ miles total. Great views. In summer, go to beach and swim and drink a beer!

Finally had a chance to ride the new trails yesterday. Fantastic is all I can say. Not being a "pro" I found there would be something for everyone, including me. Many different lengths and skill levels. Super lake, forest & mountain views also. Saw several people just hiking the trails. Will make it a destination for my aging body! For those planning to visit from other areas, there are neat campgrounds, Rv Parks (Ho-Hum) and nice cabin rentals (Serenity Cove) very near by. Worth the visit if from afar but if you are a local, you need to check this out.
