Tsali - Trail, Bryson City, Carolina

Tsali - Trail, Bryson City, Carolina

DESCRIPTION

Left Loop is an awesome trail. Beautifull scenery. The terra firma is sometimes, and other times rocky or loose. At the 8 mile mark the trail narrows to a "true" singletrack of approx. 8", if a snake is crossing the trail.. run over it or stop! I attempted to avoid it [instinct at speed] and ending up steering into the soft berm and to make a long story short.. breaking my fibula. Hit the snake! I'll be back! the Right loop is fun but the Left is definately more challenging and picturesque. N.C. Rules! The kayaking has always been awesome and now Mtn. Biking! The state will probably be overrun when I'm ready to retire!

Rode the right and left loop. Both are in great condition. Flowing single track and nothing technical. Took about two hours to complete both at a fairly moderate pace. The flow is open and spaced well. Plenty of land here so not too twisty. Beautiful scenery.

Customer Service

Trails are very well marked. Every intersection has a map to tell you where you are.

Rode the Thomson loop. Nice ride with lots of lake view early. After wards a lot of climbing but gentle for the most part. Just lengthy. Downhill to the end after long climb and it can be a little crazy here and there, A little trail maintenance in order but only in a few little spots. It was a lot of fun overall. Definitely would recommend.

I drove up for a weekend getaway and property hunting in the Murphy area but was in Bryson City when I asked the LBS about the best trails. They recommended Tsali without hesitation and sold me an over-priced trail map that I never needed but was still glad I had. I also spent the balance of my $10 on a 29er sticker so all was good at BCBS. lol

The trail was mostly single track, hard packed, with minor stream crossings (not really streams but wet corners where the water trickled down toward Fontana Reservoir. There were some roots but nothing like we have here in Central Florida. The trail was intermediate as far as technicalities go but it was tough for an out-of-shape Clydesdale who used to flat rides.

Customer Service

I only rode the Left Loop as I arrived too late to also ride the Right Loops. And, because the other two trails were closed (trail use alternates with equestrian) and I was only ably to ride on Sunday.

There are supposed to be trails closer to Murphy but I wasn't aware of those (mobile Internet was atrocious) until now. So, I can't recommend any other trails.

I would not call this trail one of the best in north carolina. The trail is fast but,it is also wide and none exciting. There was no singletrack, hardly any obstacles, no rock gardens , no drops, no log crossings, and no fun. There were a few jumps but they were off the main trail. Its just a plain jane trail around a lake with nice views. Not worth more then an hour drive. Go to brevard instead.

Customer Service

I recommend the right loop and left loop if you do go.

Tsali trails are the best eastcoast trails period! Left loop is tough clockwise but the views are unreal. Do yourself a favor and buy a trail map from Bryson city bikes before u go. The map is detailed and is a life savor when other seem lost.

Customer Service

Left loop counterclock wise. Trust me u can avoid a ton of climbing this way and just have fun. Take the fire road/double track towards the outlook post (which is the highlight) then enjoy the trails downhill.

If u have only time for one trail do the left loop. I live in Florida and I rode left loop once. Going to ride it one more time before we head on home.

Tsali has 4 great trails to ride, but, if you only have time to ride one, ride the Left Loop. If you are there on a day that the Left Loop is closed to bikes, and only open for horses, then I'd suggest riding Thompson Loop. Those are the best two trails there. Right Loop would be my 3rd best, and Mouse Branch is last, its short and rocky.

Wow,Trail bashers.I have ridden for 18 yrs.In a whole lot of States.Even in Knoxville we have riders that think there going to Mountain bike Mecca.Quit the hype. That is the whole problem.I mean most of the riders i see cant even maintain the ride.So why blame the Trails.Evidently the route you took on the Trails was the wrong one.And here is a concept RIDE HARDER!!

One of the best trails on this side of NC. The trails need more maintenance but it doesn't take away from the quality of the ride. Good climbs with fast decents. Would go more often if it was closer.

This is the first time ever riding at Tsali. Having read and heard much about the trails, it still lived up to its reputation. It is not technical as most have already observed but well designed and loads of fun! There are several difficult climbs for weekend warriors but nothing overwhelming. The long, fast downhills make up for any lung and leg pain involved. The scenery is amazing on the left loop but the right is a close second. Mouse and Thomson loops are less difficult but both have some great sections of trail. The downhill at the end of the Thomson loop is the best one at the whole trail system and well worth the long winding hike to get there. All and all this is a great riding area if you can take all of the trails in to get the best of each loop.

Customer Service

Loved the left loop overall
