Beaver Dam - Trail, Bridgeton, Carolina

Beaver Dam - Trail, Bridgeton, Carolina

DESCRIPTION

Once you get your bike around the gate follow the dirt road for about 1 half mile and there will be a sign on the left "bike trail" and another gate.turn behind this gate and go for about 200 yds. sign on right trailhead on right and left. This is a nice singletrack loop to play around on.Its real nice when dry and down right nasty when wet.3 and 1 half miles of single track with a few bridges, small log crossings and a nice "half pipe" to play in with the finalle on it being the Beaver Back which is a 15' hill.Fall and sping are the best times to ride it as its sitting on a swamp bed and if its rained that week be prepared to get wet.Bug spray may be a definite must as yellow flys and misqutios are bad.Trails in the surrounding area include Piranna Pit in Havelock,Bicycle post trail in Greenville,The brig trail and New River Air Station trail in Jacksonville.Be sure to check out Flythe's Bike shop in NewBern and The bicycle Shop in Jacksonville. Also ask about the Down East Cycling Club in Jacksonville at The Bicycle Shop.

nice beginner track with a few log crossings(very small) and bridges.Nice when dry plays hell when wet. This is a nice track to bring the family with a little bit of challege. If you want to ride hard try and beat 16.5 minutes without shortcut trails and let me know if you beat it.I give this trail a 3 star for being a good ,fun single track just to play on in the area.

Customer Service

After to the single track trail heads left or right are good.trail is a contanous loop with a few short cuts in place .Don't worry about getting lost.there is no way I believe.

Actually, taking Mom and the brats out there when it's wet would be a bad idea. The bridges get really slick and the beaverback (the most tech. part of the trail) would be a MF'er for them any time. It's one for me when it's wet.
Since I live right down the road I ride this trail 2-4 laps, 3-4X/week.

Customer Service

The little wooden bridge Jeremy mentioned is being replaced so you need to continue east on Hwy 55 about another mile and a half until you come to a big white church on the left (Olympia Rd.) Make that left and follow the road about 4 mi. At the end of the road you'll see a small cemetary. Turn left there and the trail is about a mile or so on the left.

in town visiting the in-laws, the trail is a lot of fun. i was jonesing for a ride and i had my bike so i went searching for the trail. i found it just like the direction said, go 55 E hang left onto olyimpa rd follow until the grave yard, take left the sign for the trail is on the left, park on the right. i had no expectations for this trail, but found it to be great fun, rode it twice and i blew away the other guys time of 16.5 min both times. i'm in new bern at least once a month, jermy if you want to ride some time e-mail me your email address and i'll give you a heads up when i'm in town next

A lot of imagination and work made this relatively flat trail a whole lot of fun. Great use of existing drainage ditches for good drops, a couple of well constructed bridges. Some of the trail runs pretty close to the water table, so you may want to bring your fenders. If you're in the area and looking for some XC, this is the place to go. You can blast through it and get a good cardio workout and have some fun! And if you're looking for a trail to bring someone new to work on some technique, this is the place.

Customer Service

Just follow the signs.

Great Trails! Very fast with some technicals. They just added a new 7-mile loop out there. Even more fun! Call before you go. They close these trails for the least amount of moisture on the ground. I would have given it 4 stars except for their being closed a lot in the wet season.
