There is an access point to the trail system less than 1/4 mile from my front door. I love being able to go rip some real singletrack (with some dicey root/rock sections) at the drop of a hat. For an all day thing, or when I'm craving some adrenaline I'll go somewhere else, but for being in town this place is perfect to kill an hour or two. I can practice roots & rock gardens to my heart's content here.

Customer Service

Out my front door.

Similar Products Used: In town- Only other place to bother with is behind Broyhill Conference Center. In the area, the real riding is in Wilson's Creek (Yancey's, Schoolhouse, etc).

Fun little network of trails. Lots of root sections. I actually separated my shoulder on this ride. Ouch! It was a blast though. If you want to work on some technical riding skills this network of trails is ideal.

Customer Service

The trail to the right of the covered bridge is typically grown over. If you choose to ride this part, wear sleeves. The trails near the back of the greenway are where the fun stuff lies. You can see the trail lead of the greenway to the hillside. Have fun

Similar Products Used: If you can get away with it. On the ASU campus there are some fun little downhills up by the Broyhill Inn, but they don't want Mt. Bikes on it. Be a rebel!

Mix of steep climbs and fast drops, some mellower than others. Short rides.

Customer Service

Same as above

Be sure to explore all of the different trails. There is a HUGE network of them in there. I keep finding new ones every time I go. Short trails good for quick rides, but enough different ones to keep you busy all day

Customer Service

Smame as above, but once you reach the parking lot, ride accross the field until you hit the dirt road, and there is a singletrack trail going off that. That way you can hit the trails right away without having to ride a mile of pavement first.

It can't be 5 miles. Pretty fun for a really short ride. Link this with the Howard's Knob downhill (the downhill ends on a road). Go down to the red octagonal stop sign. Take a right onto a main road. Go almost to stop light and cruise through the New Market shopping center on the right and go to other stoplight on the other side of New Market. Go straight through stoplight if the light is colored green and this is the road behing the Eckerd's that leads to State Farm trails. 4 when linked with Howard's Knob. 2.89 if not

Customer Service

Some road off of 421 (goes up behind Eckerd's or Revco something like that) go to the end of the road and then ride your bicycle on the off- road trail

This is pretty much where I learned what I know about MTB. (not enough if you ask my shins). There are some pretty tough rock and root sections on the trail that starts near the small wooden bridge (at least for me anyway) but the trail that starts to the left of the fields (from the parking lot side) was a great place for me to work on some of my climbing and cornering techniques. There's two powerline downhills by the way, I'd say the one closest to the covered bridge is about 3 times as nasty. If you keep going down the greenway, just past the animal shelter and the water treatment plant (nice-n-stinky) there's a super short but super fun little cut through with a few teensy fast jumps.

By the way, has any one caught any hell from joggers on the greenway? Twice now, I've had a jogger tell me to stay off the trails. But I've never seen anyone but bikers on the trails.

If any of you Boonites want to go riding, I'm always down. I could use some advice for sure.

Customer Service

Over the river and through the woods

Similar Products Used: Broyhill for damn sure, and Winkler's Creek. Do all 3 and then go running.

We moved to Boone about three years ago and are still discovering things the natives take for granted. There are trails on Howards Knob and Little Dugger Mountain, how do you find them?

Customer Service

How do you get to the trailhead at the top of Howard's Knob, and are the trails behind St Elizabeth's Catholic church legally accessable?
