Bent Creek - Trail, Asheville, Carolina

Bent Creek - Trail, Asheville, Carolina

DESCRIPTION

These trails are the most popular ones in Western NC. There are about 20 different trails, of various lengths and difficulties. Most are about 1 to 2 miles long. This place is very close in to civilization and supplies. Very nice camping areas also. Great place to get away from everything for a while! Watch out for fellow riders, as these trails are pretty crouded, especially with "Weekend Warriors"...

After reading all the review for Green's Lick, couldnt wait to try it out. Couldnt have been more disappointed. Quite possibly one the worst trails I've ever ridden (and I have hundreds of other trails to use for comparison. I've ridden in over 50 states / provinces - ride approximately 150 days a year for the last 15 years). The entire trail is essentially a deactivated road - most of the route is between 6-10 feet wide. Trail has no flow - it's just straight down a road. Most of it is super chundery. There are no interesting features (jumps, berms, drops). I'm completely confused how this trail consistently gets rated so highly.

Oh Bent Creek, how I love you. So much in fact that this year I made a HD video in your honor. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X3Q2QQ1sZGo

Now everytime I watch this video, I just want to be back there riding.

Customer Service

Up to 5 corners, down Ingles Field Gap. Swing around the fire road back to 5 corners, then on to Green's Lick.

I rode these trails while traveling through the area with my family. Some trail work was underway while I was there, and the crew was doing a great job! These are very fun trails; I would love to spend more time here. I rode Wolf Creek and Ingles Field Gap. I haven't done that much climbing since riding out west, but it wasn't too steep. The climbs were fun, and coming back down was great. Nothing very technical. Lots of friendly locals on the trail.

Abundant trails in area, pretty much as described bu others. Smooth, non-technical mostly. Some fun root sections but mostly tech 1-2 or so. Some fun climbs but also very short. Good for newer riders or making laps on loops. Pretty fast, flowy, lots of options to change things up considering the acreage and elevation profile. Appears to be considerable traffic. Trails are pretty well marked and color coded.

Customer Service

Loop and connectors between Pine/Deerfield/Cove loops. IS a loop out pine > Explorer > cross road > back to lot (hardtimes trailhead) but did not link it up last time.

Great trail system with easy access from Asheville area. I was up in Asheville for a long weekend and wanted a relatively sane trail to ride that I could cover in about 2 hours. This was perfect. Aerobically its as hard as you want to make it. Nothing really technical, but a handful of decent climbs. To make it flow really well you'd need to ride it a few times to pick the best sequence of trails. If I were living in Asheville it would be my afterwork ride several times a week.

Granted Ive only done about 1/2 of Bent Creek, im not impressed. My boyfriend took me here initially to get me started into riding. And it was my easy first day. From there is was the real crazy stuff like Kitsuma and all the good local rides. Bent creek is to packed full of people to enjoy the ride. The trails are short and arent "that" great, not for all the people you have to deal with. Well go out and ride it if we have an hr and were just in that part of town but its not worth spending a day there

i was in asheville for a conference so i only made it out on the last day. i had a bad map and a gps but that didn't stop me. i just started going uphill from the parking area. like the previous poster said, i felt like i was going up all the fun downhill sections, but every trail i went up was like that. going downhill was a blast. i got in about 20 miles and they were all good. i was out of shape from sitting in the conference and i was riding a single speed so i had to get off and push in some of the steeper sections but i had a good time. there was a lot i didn't ride but i'll hit it next time.

This trail looked like it has some really fun, fast, flowy downhill but unfortunately if you follow the directions on mtbikewnc.com you will be going up it all. Actually you'll be going up 85% of the time only to come down a gravel road for over a mile. They might be the most retarded directions ever. Ask a local bike shop for a trail recommendation and definitely check out green lick(coming down from the 5 trail intersection). There are a lot of people there on the weekends but it could be a fun place if you could get a decent route set up. I rode my singlespeed but in hindsight I wish I rode the squishy bike for the jumps.

Inglesfeild gap (both ways), greens lick, and side hill. These trails are epic if your not a spandarella. Lower your seat on the way down! There are also miles of fire roads that wind all through the mountain for some epic climbs with cool downhills attached at the tops! You can easily string 15-20 mile rides together if you can take the cardio.Ridden everything from slick rock, whistler, austin greenbelt ect and Asheville has the most diverse and beautiful trail system so far.Don't forget the weather is perfect. Find a local rider or you'll be riding around in circles.

Customer Service

once you find Inglesfeild gap ride it up to the clearing, take a right instead of following ifg (on left)follow this trail 2 miles untill the next clearing. on your left will be green lick. ride that to the bottom and if your not dead then take a left and ride up inglesfeild gap back to the clearing(its a cardio nightmare). then ride down on the right (ifg) be careful its fast for such a small trail and some big drops can claim ya if you hit the jumps wrong. Once back down go take a dip in the lake.
