Most of the trail is nice and rolling. A good bit single track, but there are also logging roads as well. There are some nice loops where you can get quite a bit of speed. On some of the sections, I can easily hit 30 to 35 miles per hour, which is a blast. This trail is not difficult and is great for beginners. Yet, for experienced guys it is fun at high speeds. In general, it is a good trail for everyone. From an aerobic standpoint, it is mountain biking, so there is some climbing, but not super steep and in fact if you have good aerobic the climbs are fun as well.

Customer Service

The trails on the west side, I prefer, but maybe that is because I ride them more. The outer loop is the best. The trails are well maintained.

Good riding when it's dry. XC riding, nothing too technical, about 15 miles of trails. Very few forest users. Holds water/mud and is typically the last state forest in the area to dry out. Yellow trails are in pretty rough shape (mud & pricker bushes), beat up by horse traffic pretty bad recently. Blue and Red trails are pretty fun.

Customer Service

Start with the Red trails, then do the Blue...and if it's dry do the Yellow trails too!

Jenksville is more of a Cross Country type ride; rolling, mostly smooth, and not overly technical. You can indeed find some pretty long climbs that will get your heart pounding, and some fast descents that will do the same! there are a few craggy trails, but nothing like Chenango. There is one ATV trail (virtually no one knows about it!) twisting insanely downhill that will test even the most courageous crazies! It's a fun place that won't beat or scare you to death, and give you a nice day's experience.

Like riding Eastern section in early morning. Nobody is ever there. It gives this 68 year old senior a decent workout. Cell phone=very marginal. Avoid hunting season. www.flcycling.org/flcc/offroad/ reportedly raced the Eastern section in 2000.

Customer Service

Rt 38 SO/NO to Tappan Rd (north of Newark Valley). Right Howard Hill Rd, Right on Shirley Rd becomes Baker Rd to parking on right at State Forest sign.
