Cutler-OC Park - Trail, Naples, York

Cutler-OC Park - Trail, Naples, York

DESCRIPTION

Ride towards the hill to the north, around another gate, bear left at some tables looking for a trail that becomes singletrack and crosses a small bridge. It dumps into a grassy field, look along the woods on the north edge for the Finger Lakes trail sign. Folloe the orange blazes up switchbacks, roots and a few rocks to a great overlook, continue on FLT eventually decending doubletrack to West Hollow Rd. Cross the rd., get back on FLT, cross a bridge, walk/ride/suffer through the mud and roots of hell, then climb 600 ft. of aerobic overload to where the trail levels and your heart lowers back into your chest. Look on the left for a doubletrack leaving the FLT. Go a few hundred yds and look left for a faint track with white and purple marks. Follow fun twisty stuff back to FLT, head left, desend, then climb to the top of Ontario County Park at another overlook. Another fun mile of singletrack heads to the north back from the overlook a bit. Out and back.

I haven't been on this trail the 2006 season but in the past it has been nice. A tough climb up from the parking area on the Spencer Park side of the FLT. Once at top there are a bunch of trails that are relatively flat. There are some nice views and a fun downhill back to the road. Easy to ride on the road back to the car if you don't want to take the trail back. Mostly single track but the climb up is double track as well as a few of the trails at the top.

This is a boyscout camp so stay out of the way and respect the other trail users. Stay off the camp trails (don't vear off FLT) if camp is in session.

Customer Service

Start at parking area facing Spencer park. Head up the brutal uphill and then down FLT for a nice long single track ride all the way back to the road. Take the side trails if you want a longer ride.

Spencer Park portion of FLT (across the road from Cutler). Brutal climb but fun to ride down.
Stid Hill near Bristol is a nice ride and good workout as well.

I rode this trail during a race my first year racing. This trail consists of a good mix of mostly technical single track and some fire roads. The single track is challenging for a beginner but doable and more advanced riders will find it interesting too. I only rode on the beginner's race course but from the more advanced riders comments it appears the other portions of the trail are challenging for advanced riders. The uphill single track was tough so make sure you're in shape and can make sharp turns while pedaling uphill. There are some scenic overlooks that make good picture opportunities, except during a race. :) Very nice trail. Its located on a Boy Scout campground and I think you need to check in with the ranger before riding the trail outside of a organized race.
