There are a lot of things wrong with these reviews, so I'll clarify some things.

A)There is no more riding at Song Mountain, this is a ski area that has been bought and sold numerous times, 3 owners ago they offered lift serviced riding, but no more, its been at least 10 years since this was last offered. A previous owner (maybe the current one?)unfortunately stopped all summer operations, they had a fun Alpine Slide that I still miss. They were actually pretty far ahead of the curve on the MTBing, but it was before the gravity assisted craze, so it was mainly xc trails that meandered across the ski area, pretty fun, but expensive.

B)Not in Jamesville, its a good 1/2 hour from Jamesville. Either Tully or Preble would've been a more appropriate location.

C)Its again about a half an hour from where the map says it is.

Customer Service

Don't go, there is no more biking there.

Thats the only reason I gave it a bad review, because you can't ride there. If you can't ride it sucks, but was fun back in the day.

If you live in the immediate area, check out Spafford Forest, its small, but nearby and always empty. It has some ok double track, single in scattered spots. Just be careful you may end up on private property, this happened to me, but no problems arose from it.

Velo-schussing in central new York. It's a relatively small ski hill, but It has some really nice singletrack through the woods, including tight switchbacks and steep drops. there is also trails on the ski trails, so you can go fast out in the open

Customer Service

Take trail 10 and any other of the difficult trails in the woods, they're the best

Rode in one of Jim Belknap's races out there back in fall '95 on a particularly rainy day. Fun times, and there's a hose behind the lodge to wash the mud off when you're done.

Rode trails around that area 3-4 days a week all season for 4 years. Lots of great technical singletrack to be found. Check the local bike shops in Cortland or Ithaca and find out if Jim's still putting on races. He'll send you on some great terrain. Especially good was the "To Hell and Back" annual race he used to run end of October every year. If you need any parts or service don't miss Cayuga Mountain Bike Shop in Ithaca.

Cool place, nice folk who run it. Fast fun, and you don't even have to peddle. Not very hard from what I've seen, but you can get up some really decent speeds on a soft tail.

Customer Service

Down the fireroad, over to trail 7, then flow with gravity! Up around the back looks pretty cool but it was real muddy theday I rode so I don't know.

It's okay for a small ski hill. Granted the "other" ski hill I ski on is Stratton Vt, so there's no comparison. It does have some nice stuff when there's not very many people there. Some of the people there can be a little sketchy, but what can ya do? One thing on the big down side is that as they put your bikes on a chairlift to get them up there, and they don't really know what they're doing. Kinda beats the crap out of your bike sometimes. (That annoyed me, had I known, I'd have brought my beater bike instead).

I'm feeling generous so I'll give it a 2, I'm really just rounding the 1 1/2 up. It takes a real mountain to get a 5, and I was not amused by the treatment of my bike.

Customer Service

It really depends, there's not a lot, so try the ones that seem interesting.

The XC race course at this mountain is fucking awesome. If you have never been to it you should go. A lung-busting climb and kick-ass singletrack. Jim Belknap knows how to run a race.

Did the race last spring. It was more walking than riding. Extremely muddy. Walk up the course ride a short flat section then slide fall down get back up again. My bike was 7lbs heavier when I got back home 2 hours after the race.

I ride a hardtail but wish I had the loot for a softtail. I ski race at this place so I am biased, but even still it rocks. If you crave downhill this place is great. And I have never had my bike mishandled. The people that run this place are locals and they are a little out there but they are cool as hell.

Customer Service

Its all fun if you like downhill. Not a real mountain but for Syracuse it is great.

This isn't really a "mountain", just a small ski hill. However, they throw you and your bike on a chair lift, take you to the top...you ride down. You do have the option of biking up. This is downhill galore and gore. Excellent single-tracks cut back and forth across the mountain. Steep 35-60 degree downhills available. I've seen people airlifted from here. Trails range from intermediate to scary. There is one "trail" that just goes straight over the edge of the downhill ski area. The first part approaches a 75 degree angle, and you develop tunnel vision as you go down.

Customer Service

I81 south to Tully, follow signs. I think there are 13 available trails at the top. #10 was very technical.
