PLEASE WIRTE YOUR ELECTED OFFICAL AND ASK HIM NOT TO HELP THEM ANY MORE. WE RIDE TOO, BOTH MOTORIZED AND NON MOTORIZED!!! Customer Service they are all rockie, and they all come back together into many little loops, but many almost 90% illeagle the sencic hudson was given,or bullied their way into these spots, and the rules state only hikers can go there no motorized, nonmotorized, horses, any thing other than feet should touch these trails. e-mail me if you want to know more, we work hard to get other forms or rec on STATE lands, yet they do not want to work with anyone. but next fire up there come and see who is up there putting their lifes on the line to put it out!! i have also heard no conformation that a wheel chair was ticketed for being here. this was a very fun ride! Lots of rocks and quad trails definately technical but i did it with no suspension. once at the top you can see many other peaks with great views of the hudson valley, manhattan and the catskills. great up and downhill, I burned my brakes up taking the final descent! i will go back. beutiful area and challenging riding Customer Service Park across from deli. Enter dirt road, trail is to left. Up the mountain, bike it if you can (I couldn,t) then down and all around! |

a very difficult climb which may take several tries to complete ON the bike.i have not ridden it in a while but when i did this was the smoothest route to the top.i have found that after finally climbing to the top without getting off, nothing else really seemed difficult.there really are some great veiws up there. Customer Service park by the water tower(off mtn. road i think) then go farther up the road and crawl under the gate(fire road enterance)this will eventually lead to the reservuor at the top of the mtn.follow the trail across the top of the dam to the left and that trail will eventually lead to the fire tower, which has one of the most spectacular views i have ever seen. from the gate prepare for 1 mile and 6/10 's of brutal climbing.strong legs and big lungs a must! bring food, tubes, pads, tools.i've had more pinch flats here than anywhere else, sometimes two on one down hill run.speeds of 50+mph should be easy on freeride/ downhill bike.i've hit 43 on a x-country. lots of trails shoot of main climbs.don't ride alone/death follows.its the fastest longest run in the hudson valley area.very rocky climbs, make sure you can drop your seat to the frame sections, single track at the top, quad trails, jeep trails, old ski runs, baby head roads, trials riding skills will come in handy.its easy to ride 3 or 4 hour loops.the fire tower at the top has views of zoo york city. trails are not for the beginners. Customer Service take east main to the top and look for the red i beam gate/this is the easiest place to start or about 1 mile south of the small deli at the base of mt. beacon is a small parking area, 4 cars.head in and keep climbing.sunnyside in glenham take the road to the end look for the parking area.trail is easy to find.big climb to the top trail.lots of trails at the top. enjoy! Once to the top, views and scenery are fantastic. Getting there however, is the hard part. Maybe I took the wrong route but I spent more time off the bike than on. I went up the old ski slopes to the resevoir and then over to the vistas (the lodge, the firetower, etc.). Great to hike on but cmon' if you want to spend the afternoon riding your bike go somewhere else. Some nice technical downhills but overall way too much effort for limited reward. Customer Service Started a couple of blocks north of the deli. Similar Products Used: Fahnestock, Stewart Airport. |

Don't be fooled by these other reviews, this place has a lot to offer. My friends and I can make it up the fireroad without even stopping and my bike weighs 42lbs and has a 7" Marzocchi Jr.T in the front. There is tight singletrack, steep technical climbs, insane descents that would be better on a FS bike but have been done on my hardtail, scattered drops, and lots of slickrock, you just have to look in the right places. This mountain is not for the weak hearted and will put you on your a$$ if your not careful. Do NOT come here if you are a beginner or are not in for a challenge that will test the best XC'er of Freerider in you. I've seen people up here with full face helmets and I sometimes ride with body armor, if your not sick in the head like me then these are not needed, so beware... these trails are NO joke! Customer Service Either up from Route 9D or up the fire road off east main street. The fireroad is the quicker way up,but a lot steeper than the trail off 9D Similar Products Used: Plattekill,Ninham,Smiley,Hunter Mtn(not the resort),Cronmer Park,Stewart(the freedride trail),Dutcher Pass, any Catskills Ride.... |
