East Fork Trail - NM - Trail, Red River, Mexico

East Fork Trail - NM - Trail, Red River, Mexico

DESCRIPTION

To get there: From Red River drive to the Upper Valley (about 7 miles) and park where the road pavement ends. You can start here and take the dirt road to the left then follow it back to the right (58A). You’ll pass a pond on your right.

You’ll follow this road about 1.5 miles until you reach a parking area and this is the trailhead (TR 56). I consider this as one of the nicer trails in the area. It can be a bit steep in sections but it’s all rideable. You can ride it up to the Wilderness Boundary. On the way up you’ll cross a couple bridges and follow the river for much of the ride. Once ready to ride back down be ready for a great descent. It’s about 10 miles round trip. FYI: About a half mile beyond the Wilderness Boundary the trail splits and to the north (right) goes to Lost Lake and to the south (left) goes to Horseshoe Lake. Both are nice lakes but are in Wilderness area. Walk your bike if you venture into Wilderness area. YOu can either head back down the same way you cam up or go on to Lost Lake and take the Lost Lake trail down to make a loop back to your car.
