Falcon Ridge - Golden Eagle - Sandia Peak - TRAIL

Falcon Ridge - Golden Eagle - Sandia Peak - Trail, Albuquerque, Mexico

Single trail up or down beginning at the base of the ski area. Hard ~ 10 mile, 2000 ft climb from 8300ft. Lots of switch backs with some small technical up and down hill sections. Mainly firm dirt with some fun rocky sections. Ok for beginners with a bit of motivation to get to the top. Very scenic with beautiful outlooks across New Mexico, well worth the ride up to the top or take chair lift and ride down via same way or via Golden Eagle. Partly tree covered with lots of shady areas to rest. Was the perfect weather for riding in June.

Not a bad trail going down. Some really tight switchbacks and lots of rock gardens. This trail is nice, because it's difficulty depends on how fast you take it. You can go fairly balls-out the entire way, and feel like you've ridden a pro-level cross country/downhill course.

TAKE SKI LIFT!!! I cannot emphasise this enough! Especially when you have a full suspension, the ski lift is your best friend. If you really want to be a cross country freak, you can ride up Mountain King, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Great long climb if you're up for it. Not too technical though there are a couple of spots where many have to walk on the way up. Nice, fast downhill.

This is a good begginner to intermediate trail network - but for those who are either acclimatized or in decent physical shape. Not realy technical, although some of the turns can be challenging to a beginner who doesn't have control. one way traffic in some places tends to keep things safer. definately a trail system for those who don't want to get out into terrain not so well marked or have to rely on a map. Views are good and this is a good place to ride aftert work when all the other trails are very hot.

Customer Service

climbing is a must. These trails are not that challenging if you are in decent shape. There are chair rides for flatlanders on invalids....
