Frost Woods - Trail, East Brunswick, Jersey

Frost Woods - Trail, East Brunswick, Jersey

DESCRIPTION

Gimp. But it is riding. Loops take 20 minutes at most. The jumps along the trail are the only thing that makes the ride alright.

I rarely go mountain biking, but because I live so close to these woods, I decided to give it a try! It was a lot of fun to ride. Even though there were some trees laying across the trails that I had to get off my bike to get around, overall it was enjoyable The little BMX park is so much fun! The main problem I ran into is that some of the trails lead to no where and i ended up having to turn around.

Customer Service

Down the main rock trail to the left, and straight to the BMX park, then continue straight out to a steep hill to get some serious speed!

Sandy took it's tool on Frost Woods and the township really only cleared the main roads making most of the good single track trails unrideable without getting off your bike and walking over/around downed trees. We just cleared 90% of those trees this afternoon making it a lot more fun and rideable. I wouldn't make Frost woods a serious mountain bike destination but for those that don't' live far it offers about 5 miles of trails if you zig and zag back and forth. Nothing too challenging but there are some moderate but short hills and a few logs to jump over. People have also build some ramps to jump, one is about 5' off the ground but I wouldn't trust any of these. If you live in the area well worth checking out and exploring, especially for night rides since nobody seems to bother you.

Customer Service

Just explore but I start in the parking lot on the corner of summer hill road and old stage road, there is a clear entry in the back corner of that lock and since there is a park sign there I'd guess it's permissible to use it to park. Nobody has ever questioned me for parking there.

This trail is pretty much in my backyard, I see most of the reviews here are from nearly a decade ago and I used to ride this trail several times a week back then as well. I wanted to give an update though as I just rode this trail a few days ago. Sadly, much of the good riding here as been destroyed, the fun gully that was always a challenge to get back up the other side has been bulldozed for what looks like creating better drainage. The main trail that you could get on by Frost School which had a decent downhill is now more like a fire road complete with gravel. Many of the smaller trails are also becoming overgrown as well, it seems the popularity of this place has waned in the past few years and a lot of the old jumps have pretty much fallen apart as well. I didn't even notice the bmx track either, I did ride past the area is was in as well.

Frost woods is great if you want to get kids interested in mountain biking, its easy enough for them and it is challenging, good for kids. There is a hurd of deer that isnt afraid of people. No hunting allowed!!!

Good if you happen to be by on Rt. 18 with your bike in tow. Just off of the main road. Not too long you can see the highlights of the park in 20 minutes. Nice place for a nightride on the way home from work in the winter.

Customer Service

This is the place to go with your newbie girlfriend/boyfriend when she/he wants to ride with you but not on a cross-country death march and/or have you waiting at the bottom of every technical section or downhill as they walk down it. Nice smooth up and downs if at all, no real climbing, some jumps for the BMX'er in all of us. Big herd of deer with a "whatz-up-who-is-you-and-we're-not-getting-out-of-your-way-attitude..." Then take them shopping down the road on Rt. 18 to finish the day.
