Smart's Brook - Trail, Waterville Valley, Hampshire

Smart's Brook - Trail, Waterville Valley, Hampshire

DESCRIPTION

There are alot of trails that interconnect in this area so a little exploring is in order because only a couple are marked. You will find just about everything out there from rocky and rooty technical to some really big climbs and everthing in between. One mile trail is really technical, Yellow Jacket is a fun downhill that follows smart't brook down through a ravine. Take a Sunday, explore the area, and at the end of the day you will be tired but happy you made the trip

This is a west coast 3/5 and an east coast 5/5. Much more flow to reward the technical challenges and climbs. I found the trail very well marked and easy to follow. When they say black diamond for cross country skiing, they mean it! Very technical steep climbs over rocks and roots in those areas. Great ride.

Left from smarts brook trail parking directly into the woods on the smarts brook trail. You'll come to a fork, one marked easy and the other hard-I've done both, and the hard one is hard. The easy goes back down to the highway and then heads back into the woods. I then took yellow jacket to tri city and back to lot. Tri city, at the start had a lot of mud, and seems like it probably never really dries, but it was dry after about 100m and begins a good descent run.

Great single/double track, with plenty of climbing and descents. Very little hike-a-biking. I rode 18 miles (by cyclometer) without doubling back, and still had trails I didn't explore. Definately worth a return trip.

There are trails off Sandwich Notch Road that are reported to be good, but I haven't ridden them yet.

The trails here are great for cross-country and if you spot for a lift ticket you can run the face of Snow Mountain slope for a very fast and technical downhill.

Customer Service

Take the lift at Snow Mountain and you will be rewarded with access to almost every trail in ski area. ( and lots of fun downhills)

Rocks, roots, bridges, stream crossing, steep drops, technical downhills, technical uphills, technical flats, fire roads, single track, and lots of climbing.

Customer Service

From the parking area take the highway back down the road a little way to chikenboro road. This a dirt road that turns into a old forest road which will hook up with a forest service road. several trails branch of this or follow to the end and cross sandwich notch road and follow the trail down the powerline. many options from there.

There is a lot of riding in the Plymouth, Campton, and Waterville Valley area. The trouble is very little is marked. gyroscope in Plymouth is pretty cool though.
