Rattle Snake Ridge - TRAIL

Rattle Snake Ridge - Trail, Auburn, Hampshire

The main trail runs though this an area south of the western half of Massabesic Lake. Trails on the left of the main trail will lead too and around the summit of Rattle Snake Hill (mostly singletrack). Trails on the right of the main trail will follow the edge of the lake and lead to some great views of the lake. Most of the singletrack in the Rattle Snake Hill area can be ridden fairly fast. There is not alot of rocks or exposed roots that are so commom to most New England singletrack. A loop can be made around this half of the lake by continuing up Lakeshore Rd. to the Rock Trail and then left onto the railroad bed (Rock Trail) which will bring you back to By-Pass 28, just south of the rotary

Alot of rough graveled fireroads that go up or down. The singletrack surface is smooth and fast but narrow in some places where bushes have grown in. Alot of the singletrack on Rattlesnake Hill is open exposed ledge, which makes for fast riding.

I started from the corner of Lakeshore Road and followed the waters edge as often as possible on fire roads and some singletrack down the Fang back to the main fireroad and then right up the hill to the ridge. Once on top of the ridge there appears to be several singletrack loops around and over the ridge. I didn't have time to explore more. The distance from 28-bypass is shorter to the sigle track, but more scenic from Lakeshore Road.

Similar Products Used: Battery Point/Deer Neck singletrack of 28-Bypass. Some fireroads and some singletrack.
