The main trail is now 9 miles long. There is a 1 mile kids loop, 2 mile beginner loop, and a 6 mile "original trail loop". The trail is used in the Mississippi Off Road Cycling Series (MORCS). The "Dust N Bones" race, usually the third sanctioned race, is generally late April or early May, 2015 date not determined as of 1-6-15. A expert level loop was opened late last year for more challenges. There are plenty of jumps , berms, bridges to have a great ride. There is primative camp area available and a on site "out house" for nature calls. A nice area to wash off the bike or rider...??. Bike shops in New Orleans tell riders to drive 2 hours north to enjoy Mount Zion Bike Trail. There is no charge to ride, but 1000% of any donation goes back to the trail. Bike magazine rated it on of the 10 best in the South just a few years ago...come ride, enjoy, and spread the word...you will come back !

Trail is now 6 miles and is continuously being improved. There is now a total of 20 berms on the trail and the flow is incredible. With multiple local riders living within a couple miles of the trail, it is always getting ridden and cleaned up, so it stays in great shape. There are two new sections that are in the works now and should be open sometime late fall. The black diamond loop is now complete and offers some challenging drops and jumps for those who are more experienced riders. This trail is a blast for both beginners and expert riders alike. The first USAC sanctioned XC race at Mt Zion is scheduled for July 17, 2011 and is sure to be an awesome race with blazing fast lap times!

Fantastic! I have known about this trail for many years and never had the chance to make it out there. I am glad I finally did! The people are super and the trails are a blast. There is a fantastic mix of riding that made for a great place to dial in my suspension settings. While this trail will not provide you with an epic all day ride, it will provide you with the opportunity to get to know the trail. The more you ride it, the funner it is! The trails are marked all over the place, down to the roots being painted for easy visibility. This place was a lot of fun to ride. Go check it out some time.

Made the drive down from the metro area today to try this place out. Overall, the trail is well maintained with many optional jumps, drops, see-saw, etc. The descriptions listed by other riders fit the bill, good climbs followed with fast decents, tight and techy . Big hats off to the guys who take care of the prop, trail markers make for easy navi. I plan to be back within the next few days for some more action.

Took A-Trail(5 mile; white) then took the B(2 mile; yellow) for a good finish. The trails are the same in certain areas, so you get the backside downhill twice if you ride both.

My favorite trail!...but then I may be partial! We tried to combine the best aspects and features from all the trails we've ridden thru-out the south. Only 5.09 miles long but packed with fun. 80% tight single track, and 22 wooden features(so far) The main 'A' trail has a 14' see-saw, 105' bridge over Soggy Bottom, a banked 'curvy bridge, and several creek jumps. All of these 'challenges' have optional by-passes if you're not so inclined. The Black Diamond Loop(opening spring 2009) will be for expert riders only..(NO built in by-passes)
A beginner loop is also available. This 2-mile, wider, family friendly loop is for kids and anyone new to mtn biking. Much less intimidating for 1st-timers and runners. Come check us out! get more info and directions at mzbiketrail.wordpress.com

For locals, I'd say it's a combination of Ruston, Clear Springs, and Biloxi. Maybe the best of all 3 combined. It won me over before I got mid-way through. There are plenty of technical sections, no shortage of jumps along with great climbs to fast down-hills. Top notch tight twisty single-track with wider areas to fill the boot. The trail flows extremely well. Very well maintained and some of the trail features are some of the best I’ve ridden in this area. This trail will certainly be on my list of preferred trails.

Favorite sections: Squirrelly Hill, The Fly, and of course the wall bridge…

Customer Service

Follow the signage, well marked for direction and mileage with section names.

The description says it all. When driving there, look for the yellow "Mt Zion Bike Trail" sign on the left side of Mt Zion road which marks the entrance to the trail - otherwise you'll drive right by it!
