You can try out just about any technical challenge at this trail. Most challenges have bypasses but a few logs and rock gardens can't be bypassed. Signage is really good. If you want to go fast and just do flowy, you'll probably like Elm Creek better. This trail is more for those looking for technical challenges and obstacles.

Lebanon Hills is one of the best if not the best trail system in the Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area. It possess the qualities and challenges that not only a beginner but also an experienced xc rider would appreciate on a trail. The trail system is appropriately divided into different loops so you can make your riding experience as challenging as you want or simply opt for a fast fluid ride. MORC's continuous efforts have paid off all the way.

this trail system is fantastic. its fast and flowly not alot of uphill or downhill. has all sorts of man-made obstacles (a see-saw even). There is an expert loop and several spots to choose an easy line or do an obstacle. keep your focus here as a mistake can really hurt. MNORC has been doing a great job with several of the trail systems here. visit their website for more info and maps. this is the best trails ive ridden in the twin cities area. if you only have one place to hit up this is it. this is the place for premium trail style riding, not for your work-out enthusiast.

This trail system seemed a little contrived, but I'm not complaining. On the contrary, I think it's exactly what more trailbuilders need to create. It is a great place for beginners to be introduced to mountain biking and still provide some excitement and enjoyment for intermediate and advanced bikers.

I've was driving through the Twin Cities on my way to a race in Wisconsin, so I thought I'd kill a couple of hours at Lebanon Hills. I used to live in Minneapolis about 6 years ago, and although this trail system existed, I think it was in it's infancy.

It appears that there are two "loops" available. There is a separate beginner's loop that I found very enjoyable. I'd describe it as tight, flowy, buff singletrack through a wooded area. There was limited (if any) elevation change and the surface was smooth and tacky.

The next loop is intended for intermediate riders and was fairly similar to the beginner loop. The trail surface had more rocky outcroppings, roots and some very mild elevation gain/lose. The "advanced" loop had a few rock gardens and bigger log piles. I think the intermediate and advanced loops offer the beginner a nice taste of where mountain biking can go and still challenge the intermediate rider.

There were several bail-out points along the way as the intermediate/advanced loop intersect a service road. Trails were exceptionally well marked and unidirectional, so you can really rail blind corners without fear of clipping an oncoming rider. In my own opinion, I think these trails are testimony to the great work an advocacy group can do! Hats off to the MORB group for their hard work and determination. They've created a place where a diverse group of riders can visit and everyone can have fun and enjoy some nice singletrack.

One last comment... I don't think this was the most difficult trail in the area. If I lived in Minneapolis and rode this frequently, I'd just try to ride as fast as I could to challenge myself (as Greg Lemond said, "Cycling never get easy, you just get faster!")

Customer Service

I started at the parking lot and warmed up on the beginner loop. It allowed me to get a feel for the terrain and traction (I'm not from Minnesota). Afterwards, just follow the signs and enjoy... you really can't get lost from my understanding. As mentioned above, I think you can bail out any time you cross the service road (you cross quite often).

I used to ride Afton Alps and really enjoyed it. Also, poached Brownie Lake, but it was only like 1-2 miles long at the time.

One of the best trails that Minnesota has to offer. The Minnesota Off-Road Cyclists (MORC) flagship trail offers a great mountain biking experience for all types of rider right in the metro area. Lebanon Hills offers all sorts of interesting obstacles such as rocks, bridges, teeter-totters, monster log piles, rock gardens and more. Check out the link below for more information.

This trail suprised me. Very fun trail for being in central/southern minnesota. Quite a bit different than the "front range" trails, but I enjoyed the variety of the climbs and descends; it makes you forget about being tired!

I hadn't been here in a few years (since about the time they rebuilt the parking lot). What I came back to this summer was a totally different experience! Gone is the old climb and bomb, 2.25 mile jeep trail loop that was like Murphy Hanrehan, but on a smaller scale. In it's place is an well maintained, snakey singletrack trail with lots of technical challenges and obstacles. The trail has many switchbacks and is 6.5 miles long, with a 2.5 mile expert loop about 2/3 of the way in that can be lapped without going back to the parking lot. The difficult sections have large rocks to ride over, log jumps, rock gardens, roller coaster wooden platforms, shaved logs to ride lengthwise and a teeter totter. The trail flows nicely and uses natural obstacles of roots trees and rocks to it's advantage. A lot of work was done by MORC to make it what it is now. One of the minor drawbacks is that it draws more riders now and being singletrack it's likely you'll get behind somebody slower and have to wait for an opening to pass. Also, the climb and bomb aerobic benefit of the old trail is gone, riding it harder to compensate only means more people to pass! All in all, a very positive change for the Lebanon Hills MTB trail system. An excellent place to ride, esp for no charge. I hope the MORC folks talks with the Three Rivers Parks people go well and they can make improvements like these to Murphy too!

Awesome Single Track for all abilities. Very well maintained, truly the best single track I have ridden in Minnesota. MORC has done a great job implementing these trails and keeping them in excellent condition. A truly fun ride!

Lebanon Hills is such a fun ride. It never seems like you are always going downhill. The trail work is first class. It could use some skinnies and a few more big jumps, but I'm sure M.O.R.C. will remedy this soon. The only problem I have with it is the overabundance of spandexed riders with poor attitudes that think they are God's gift to the trails. Show some love people!!!

I just got back from Lutsen and have alternated this traill with several others in town this past summer, and have yet to find a trail that has what Lebanon offers. This is probably the best trail in Minnesota. MORC has done such a great job, from the new entrance trail to the improved exit trail, this is the place to go. The loop we take only overlaps about 1 mile of the trail and it is 8 miles long.

Customer Service

Intermediate to Expert to Double Expert to Expert (for go the Double X) and out the Exit Trail.
