Been riding here since '98, first time to see any real changes. Trails have been rerouted, remapped, remarked and needed improvements. Blue Lake is closed to bikes. New route with great views of Wolverine Lake, stop and look, tight at water edges. Trails are firm with sand at bottom long down hill runs, like most trails.
Good mix of woods, meadow, long climbs, tight trees and turns, jump off and push, HIGH role aways, keep your eyes on the trail and passing space. Some washouts still need some work, but one of best rides in west Michigan. Trail is closed for deer hunting.
Price is $10 per car load, like most state parks or $60/ year, we carpool.

Customer Service

Red is 10 miles, Blue is 15+ and has bigger hills.

Very well marked, fun, a lot of difficult hill climbs. Just enough sand to keep you on your toes. This trail has it all! I have only ridden in the fall, the leaf cover adds another dimension to riding as you can't see the trail.

Head out of the parking lot to the Red trail. Red starts off getting you up to speed quickly.
There are many climbs to test your will and downhills to test your nerve and technical enough to keep you sharp. The great thing is due to the many loop options, it is appealing to many different skill levels as well.
Don't be afraid to take a newbie or your hard core friends.
It should be noted that the trails are closed to bikers from June 11th thru Labor Day as the camp is occupied by Boy Scouts during these months. It is also closed during Deer hunting season which I believe is Dec. thru Jan. I'm not a hunter so you may wan't to look into that fact.

I recently went south to North Carolina and rode Tsali and Pisgah. When I returned home I feared my old trail would be too easy and boring. Much to my surprise I was wrong! This is just a great trail system
that can still kick your butt no matter where you ride! And nearly everytime I'm out there I witness
nature upclose, whether it be deer raccoon, owls, rabbitt, squirrel, wood pecker, and most recently a pair
of Bald Eagles who are nesting!
Lastly, PLEASE PAY! We are on the verge of losing this great spot due to those unwilling to pay and
most disturbingly, a rash of arson and vandalism.

How much time do you have?
Red to White to Orange is roughly 7 miles
Red to White to Blue to White to Orange (Sounds confusing but it's not, very well marked) is around 9 mi.
For a real challenge, take Red to Blue and continue on Blue's outer loop, I'm unsure of the total distance
but my estimate would be between 15-20 miles.

This trail system is only available to people who buy a season pass for I believe $40. They had to many problems with cheap ass bikers not paying for daily passes

Aside from the idiots that dont pay and the ones that love to tear the trails up by locking up their brakes, this is a very cool place. It is seeing a lot more traffic now, but I get there before 9:00 am on sat and sun. and never see anyone. Its nice to have this in my backyard, but it is too bad so many people need to take advantage of it. 30-40 bucks to ride this property is nothing, you will not see too many areas this prestine in lower MI. kudos to the boyscouts for allowing us to enjoy their land.

Customer Service

all routes are nice, gives you a bit of a change in scenery. Red is a good test of will power with the climbs and descents.

Please tell me better directions to this trail so that I can go there and ride for free. Only idiots with the "fear of god" would feel a need to pay to ride.

Please this is a Scouters paradise, the small fee that is paid is for upkeep of the trails. As for Cabby I hope I never run into you on the trail as they are also hiking for those of us that are Scouts.

I am leaving a 3 based on few things.
1.) The fee is outragous 6 bucks. Come on.
2.) For a fee that large there is no markings in the most crucial spots. The Y Turns and other areas. Sure there are markings. But when it comes up to a turn there are no markings.
3.) Most of the maps are hardly readible from weather and then they are torn down.

So its a decent trail. I would like to leave a 3.5 but cant so I am not going to give it the benefit because of the price. Anything with the 6.00 fee should be perfectly marked.

So about the trail. There are some sandy spots throught the trail. Nothing to major. I didnt find the Hills near complex as some people. Sure there steep but there either steep and short or shallow and long. So in my words I love hills and they proved to be pretty wimpy. Dont get me wrong I liked this trail. I wont ride it again unless I have some people with me or a group. It got my heart rate up but not much more.

So drop the price a little. Mark the turn-offs and provide maps for the paying people and this trail would be worth a 4.5
