Kensington Metro Park - Trail, Milford - Brighton, Michigan

Kensington Metro Park - Trail, Milford - Brighton, Michigan

DESCRIPTION

Paved Bike/Hike/Jog trail. Helmet is required. Some log jumping immediately after a tornado or severe lightning storm. Very good conditioning track, especially in winter because path is plowed and park is empty. Great way to get in shape during January & February because no one is looking! I found it a relaxing way to get used to my bike without making myself look foolish. Some great DH's and can be really technical when approaching multiple dog walkers and rollerbladers. for a real workout, ride the path after a snowstorm on the unplowed part. The X-country skiiers will know that they are the crazy ones! Hope to see you there.

Helmet is required. Paved path is open year round. Trees are close and so are the deer. Great way to bring your adreneline up to speed during hunting season. The Fall Colors are fantastic and so is the food when the concesssions are open! There are other people out there, patrolled by off duty cops and a good rescue squad is available from Milford. Plenty of places available to land a Helicopter if you need to go to U of M or Catherine McAuley in Ann Arbor. Basically you ride around Kent Lake and that has it's benefits too. Nice Swans, some geese, interesting sites early in the morning and late afternoon. This is a good conditioning course and the path is circular. Many people ride it 40+ miles a day. Very challenging when the self centered people are walking their dogs, and of course the I'm Better Than You (IBTY) folks are out there either rollerblading or tying their shoes in the middle of the path. A polite bell is suggested and when they finally come to their senses, a polite "thank you", (when passing) seems to shock them back to reality better than an expletive or crude statement, (I have tried all forms!). The Deer are a real challenge because first, you don't know where they are going, and second, you don't know how many there are.

There are plenty of picnic areas too so it is a great way to have lunch/dinner/breakfast outdoors. Hope you enjoy it!

this is a simple trail, it might as well be paved, i go there and see men that change out of theie business suits with coffee and a huge gut and they can do the trail on their might as well be huffys. Its all right, it won't make you any better at Biking, but its great feeling flying up and down in smooth trail.

Technical to the extreme! The dude below was right - excellent frankfurters and licorice at the concession stand. Do it cloclockwise the first time 'round, then counter. It'll blow your mind! Bring a compass.

It is a great trail during summer. green...around the lake which will take away your tiredness. If you are doing biking for the first time this will be too hard. But go for it!!!

It really is not all that bad!
Yes, many many little girls and boys on huffys!
Yes, you have to dodge fat ladys with little rat dogs!
Yes, its not dirt or dirty!
But, yes you can get over 30 miles an hour going down hill (speed limit is 10 mph and I DO NOT RECOMMEND DOING THIS, IT'S CRAZY AND DANGEROUS)!
But yes its a beautiful place to go for a ride, without thinking to hard!

The paved trail is really nice. People are pretty good about staying on their side of the path. It is a beautiful park. There are usually deer too. Of all the metro parks I have been to, this one is my favorite. I like the fact that the path is a loop so that I don't have to back track, and 8 miles is perfect! Even though I personally wear a helmet when I ride, I am very annoyed that this "free" country has allowed a law to pass in the city that requires us to wear one - and the cops monitor the trail, let's put our tax dollars to capturing real criminals instead. Other than that annoyance, it's a refreshing and uplifting ride - rain or shine. I highly recommend it.

rode it once when started jones'en for a ride while in town. I'm sorry for everyone that "mountain" bikes in the downriver area. Trail was for roady's, fat tires not required. Couldn't even find a good place to auger.

Customer Service

Yes this is a paved path that doesn't need fat tires but you can link to Island Lake from there.

The setting is very beautiful at any time of year. It is good for conditioning and practicing with your new clipless pedals...

Counter cloackwise gives you some long sneaky uphills that'll have you standing up or gearing down even as you blow by some young lady skater in hot pants...steep downhills will test the accuracy of your bike computer. Tacking on the short road out to Turtle Island around and back makes the trail 10 miles (not counting an Island Lake extensions).

This is a place for a fun and relaxing ride.
