Wow - what a great ride. Very scenic with many long but gradual hills. Technical spots are few but the many hills will tire the beginner rider. The downhills had me hooting like a little boy! Trail is in excellent condition with only a few spots of sand. No mud! For Marilla trail figure 19 miles down and back on the singletrack. So far my favorite trail in Michigan...

Customer Service

The marilla section of the North Country Trail is where I got my start in Mountain Biking. It's a great trail for beginner to advanced, at least for the area. Long up hills and down hills so bring the oxygen.

Customer Service

Off of beers road west of Mesick past red bridge to Tippy Dam.

Miles and Miles of North Country trails. Contact Jeff Betz at Trailhead Bike shop in Ludington and he can hook you up with maps of the North Country Trail and maybe even someone to ride with if you want. He's got a great shop and an ace mechanic to help you out with anything you need.

Customer Service

Depends which section you want to ride.

Singletrack is some of the best around. Very fast and very technical at the same time. Trails are tight and inexperienced riders should be carefull because if you screw up your headed down a hill. Most of the hills are long and steep so come prepared with food and water becasue after thirty miles of up and down you may be a little whipped. P.S. Thirty pound freeride bikes dont make it far out here once you start climbing some of the hills. So be prepared. I get tired after 25-30 miles on my 21.5 pound Klein hardtail, I coundn,t amagine a 30 pound freerider.

Customer Service

I used the trail head off houden pile dam road, Its only a few miles out of buckley. If you never been there its best to go with someone who has the first time.

Udell Hills-forty mile section of the sweetest single track around. My favorite trail. If you can make it out on the weekday when it is not so crowded you can really hammer. On weekends be aware and courteous to hikers.Their is an element of fanatics out there doing their best to ban mountain biking from OUR Nth. Country trail.MERILLA RD.-9 mile section.Bring your lungs and legs.Agreat workout.Too many trees down from last Nov. wind storm.I paid my 20.00 trail fee.Where is the trail maintanance that was promised?Where getting the green weenie on that!Enjoy Nth. Country while you can it is truely a gift from the mountain biking gods

I live in MD now but I am seriously looking at moving back to MI just for these trails. I hope the mountain bikers are doing there part to maintain them in order to keep access open. If you are not doing your part then you had better start or these trails will be closed. Ok, let me get off my soapbox and get to the rides. These are not what I consider technical but they do take some lung capacity to ride. Long uphills followed by gentle long downhills. Great views, great camping, great food at the DamSite Inn, and miles of fast, long downhills. The best rides I have found anywhere I have been.

Customer Service

Ride either the North Country Bridge section or the Udell Hills section.

Excellent trail! Tight singletrack and and incredible views from the trail. Bring your legs and lungs, you will need them, especially from Marilla. I wish that I lived closer to the area so I could ride here more often. Granted I do have good trails down by me (yankee springs, fort custer) but these are great. An incredible mix of technical and speed potential, combine that with the views and you have an excellent trail. Can't give five stars though since I know there's always something better, maybe not on this side of the state though.
