Sleepy Hollow - TRAIL

Sleepy Hollow - Trail, Lansing, Michigan

There are 3 loops. The red is the longest. The trail is mainly rolling meadows with some singletrak. The singletrak is relatively easy. A couple fun steep hills, but this is a very easy place to ride. The red loop is in the 13 mile vicinity. Great place to take a new/non rider to get them the feel of singletrak. For stronger riders a good alternative to a road ride. It's flat and easily fast enough to keep a good pace up. Lots of matted grass riding. Somewhat scenic. For stronger riders who live in the lansing area it's only about 25 minutes to get there, but I'd honestly drive the extra 20 or so to Poto or the other trails. But it's a decent quick ride.

These trails make for some decent single track in the Lansing area. It was my first attempt at mountain biking in a couple of years (sorry I heard the call of the road) and it was a great workout. The trails are very well marked and didn't see anybody else (other than deer and rabbits ) the whole time I was on the trail. Decent mix of hills, roots, and other obstacles to keep your attention. Definitely not the powo though...

Park at the first beach parking area and start riding out to the hiking trail.

This is a great place to camp and ride. I stayed in the campground and rode for 4 days. They have done a good job of grooming the trails and putting up new signs. It is a pretty easy course but you can ride hard and still get a good workout.

Pretty much agree with the other reviews. Not a great trail, but a good place to practice. The GREAT thing about this trail is that no one likes it, so I NEVER see anyone else riding it! Thus, I love it.

TRAILS NOT CLEARLY DEFINED. MANY INTERSECTIONS WITH HIKING AND HORSE TRAILS. EASY TO TAKE A WRONG TURN WITHOUT A POCKET MAP. TRAILS NOT WELL KEPT FOR ATB RIDING. LOTS OF OVERGROWTH, WANT TO WEAR LONG SLEEVE SHIRT FOR SURE. GOOD FOR PRE-SEASON CONDITIONING, BAD IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR A THRILL.

Trails are very poorly marked, primarily hiking trails with some variety for MTB use. 4 loops to choose from ranging from 1.5 to 10 miles. Trails extremely difficult to navigate, lots of intersections. Make sure you have a map handy. Trails not maintained for MTB use, mostly horse routes.

I found the area to be very scenic. It was really a disappointment when I got on the trail. I took the red loop around the lake, until I had had enough and took the black to yellow and out. The were a few exciting moments but I found the trip to be dull and uneventful for the most part. The main problem is the trail is mostly through flat fields and grass. Maybe there just aren't enough riders to wear a trail into the ground but it was pretty bumpy, and slow. I will probably go back to explore the other trails possibilities but until then I give this trail a rating of 2.

3 or 4 trails that circle around a lake. Only have done the red trail which is about 12.5 miles long. Scenery is decent in some places but land overall is kind scrubby. The trail itself gave me a sore ass. Matted down grass with a wasboard base makes for a bumpy ride. The few hills are kind of fun considering the rest. Almost got run over by a pair of Honda's at the end so watch out for o.r.v's.

27 north of Lansing to Price Road. Turn right when you get off. Signs the whole way

i found this trail to be so pitiflly simple that I, on a 6 year old rigid rockhopper, got bored, this is amazing considering i am an amatuer. the few hills there are just end up in a long flat runway at the end, no fun stuff to hit at top speed. this trail is pitiful in the fact that its called a bike trail.

also your tires get covered in horse crap

This place sucks. Few short sections through the woods with the majority of the trail going through flat grass meadows mowed by a tractor. Not worth the drive!
Who should ride this trail? Boy Scouts.
