This is essentially a long jeep track with areas of intermittent loose sand. It is 'swale-ly', and can be lots of fun going dwon the hills. There are a few singletrack paths which offer fun riding. This connects quite nicely to the southern 1/2 of the NAtional Seashore bike path (paved). Of course the NPS would not condone off-trail riding in that area, and so there really are no good singletrack offerings for adventurous riders... : )

While riding the lovely paved paths, gloves are necessary, and eyewear is also de-rigeur. Vegetation stands at elbow height for the rider, in the areas where the paths become somewhat narrower than the usual pavement. I strongly recommend lining your tubes to fend off the catbriar which is pervasive in the vicinity of the paved paths. CARRY A PUMP and a USGS Quad is useful

A lovely diversion along the paved paths can be found in the section just W of Bennett Pond towards Herring Cove Junction, in the vicinity of the pond N of the pavement.
