Danvers Town Forest - TRAIL

Danvers Town Forest - Trail, Danvers, Massachusetts

50 Acres of Land with lots of good beginner and intermediate tracks. Most of the trails are single track with a few drops and climbs. There is never anyone there. Look for the hidden trails that take you into the wetlands...lots of wet fun!

This trail system is a mess. Nobody does any maintenance that I can see. Lots of pine cones to foul cornering and various sticks to foul your derailer and blow downs that are both doable and not. One fun bridge. For the most part it is double wide trails with ruts that were caused by ATVs. I had some fun here and there and there is a scratch of a trail that descends to a marsh area that is very scenic. Fun exploration. If you are hoping for a fast trail with single track twists and turns, I didn't find it here. I did about 5 miles retracing my own tracks a couple of times. There is a marsh, powerlines, and a cemetery and housing bordering the "forest" so does have its limits. I'll probably go again at some point and give an update of what else I find. Good for after work or before but not a destination ride at all. Too many trails that end in a fire pit surrounded by beer cans. Thanks to our ATV friends for ruining more trails.

I gave this place a quick try and found the trail surface to be generally easy, but those undulating hills are a lot of work! They take the rider up and down and up and down about 20 feet each time, but without much room to get up a head of steam.

I enjoyed my ride, but I would have to say that I would only stop there in the future if it was convenient. This is especially true given that Harold Parker State Forest is just 5 miles away and Boxford State Forest is about 7 miles.
