Growing up in Boxford I rode here a lot in the early 90's. The trail system is old and not as robust as it could be (although I did find a freshly cut single track yesterday), but Bald Hill is prime for a new network of trails as the land is absolutely beautiful! Undulating pine forests with little to no undergrowth make this the perfect setting for new trails. Bald Hill has the potential to be one of the best riding spots in MA.

This trail is not too bad. I live pretty close and can only get to places on my bike. The firt mile is really boring but once you get in you can stay in there for ever. There is usually a overflowed lake and river. That is always fun to go through. The trails can be a little tiring if you go to slow. The trails are rocky with some huge puddles. Overall its a fun place.

Customer Service

Go stright in the front and take a right, continue up that trail and then take a left. You also can climb to the top and fly down the main trail.

The rides in here are great. You can go pretty fast because there is not a whole lot in the way of technical riding. Look out for the large marsh that crosses the trail not very far in. Please carry your bike around the side on the logs and sticks.
Go further down Middleton Road and on the left you will see another trail with a sign going over the top of it. Go in here and bare right immediately for a gorgeous trail and a short steep followed by a great skinny trail. During the summer, I rode in Bald Hill at least 2 or 3 times a week. Bald Hill is my home turf so there is no way I could give it any less than five stars.

Customer Service

There are a ton of fun rides in here. My favorite is to go in the main entrance and head about 2 miles in towards the Nike site. This is a small quarry with water in it. Go in the main entrance and stay on the main trail. Go straight when you see a rocky trail on the right going up a hill. When you get to a field, go left onto the singletrack. From here on out, stay straight and you will come out to like a desert land, its an odd switch. The Nike Site is up on the left.

The ride I recommended is such a great ride for the intermediate rider. The ride gives you many types of terain and Trails from easy fire roads to more challenging Double and more difficult single track trails. It is alot of fun out at Bald Hill with many other trails to explore.

Customer Service

Best ride is about 10 miles and starts at Middleton Road's Main Parking lot. This ride is best suited for intermediate riders. Trails are numbered very well and can be easily followed using the map in the book titled "Mountain Biking Near Boston". The ride begins at number 17 titled Bald Hill Road (This trail is a somewhat easy trail but at points is challenging and requires lots of energy due to the climbing of Bald Hill) you follow this contiuously the trail markers will go in descending order and once you reach marker 8 on Bald Hill Trail bang a right. This will begin your journey down Middleton Trail (This trail is more challenging and requires more skill to handle)this trail is the reward for the long ride up Bald hill. Toward the end of Middleton Trail you will come upon marker 19, at this marker bang a right. You will quickly descend down a short more difficult single track trail, you will come to marker 20 and bang a left and will quickly aproach an even more difficult single track on your right. Descend down the trail and you will soon aproach marker 22 where you will be back on to a more easier Double Track trail and you will soon reach marker 23, 24, and lastly 25. At 25 it is your decision either go straight and at end of trail onto Middleton Road take a right and ride to the parking lot or take a right at 25 and descend down a very difficult single track till you reach marker 17 where you will take a left and follow back to your car.

Sweet Ride! there are a bunch of other trails to explore and get lost on! And anybody can ride on this...no pain no gain

Customer Service

Park at the main entrance on middleton road...take off down the main trail as fast as you can...just fly...you'll come to an intersection sort of thing so bang a left there and go about 50 yards and plow through the 20 yard two foot deep river/beaverdamn...just keep pedeling after the cool down and proceed up to the top of Bald hill....chill there for a while...and bomb back down through the river (which is usually there only in the spring) and head back to the trail head but before you get there bang a right and got down this sweet single track and you'll find a sweet place to go rock climbing...its a nice break and not too hard...enjoy!!

I have ridden in Willowdale, Bradley Palmer, Gordon/Chebacco Woods, Ravenswood, and Dogtown. This site is far the best I have ridden. 1/2 mile is boaring, but after that whole trail is challenging with many rocks, mud puddles, streams, steep and rocky down and uphills. Nike quarry has several hair raising down and up hills. I also enjoyed the scenery.

Customer Service

If recommend both "double" and single trails. you go over all the little trails the total ride can be +2 hrs. If you like to see a map it is in "Mountain Bike America - Boston by Jeff Cutter".

Great trails, for all levels. It tends to take a lot of water on in the spring....

The dirt bikes seem to be back and are tearing up some of the best trails...

Customer Service

There is a great downhill behind Crooken Pond. You have to Go around the pond and its a little windy to get there but its worth it.
