edzo's saturday 9am rides from the acton I have a question somebody wrote that endo does a ride in Acton, I would like to know the following. 1) The movie theater is closed so were does he meet up yet. 2) how often does he do the ride. 3) is there an email he can be reached at. Or is there another group of people doing this on a weekly basis if so I would like to get in on this ride. I ride behind the firestation in Acton and have been near scupper jacks there are so awesome trials there. My email is jgg765@hotmail.com

starts UP a steep series of hills, some wicked fast descents...from forest primevil dense woods to scenic ponds and wide open grassy fields, to babyhead stretches than do not end and all in-between, these townie trails are worth the effort

Customer Service

Harold of the Rocks

Spring Hill should be named Rock hell. It's 2 - 3 miles of riding to hammer your kidney's and lower back. I ride it once a year as a form of penance. Since there are always a lot of other tracks, i'm in the minority.

That said, if you like Spring Hill, pop out of their on 2a, and ride south on 27 to Great Hill Recreation area. It's about 5 miles south of 27 / 2a.

After the intersection of 27 and 111, go 3/4 a mile, and on your left there's a parking area (there are 2 others - one off 111 right by 2, and one on school street behind the fire house.) If you go immediately left and up the hill, you'll hit the water tower.
The layout is a fat figure 8 - essentially an outer loop with an inner connector. It's about 20 minutes of kidney busting stone hopping, with 2 minutes of fund downhill

stowe woods is more fun - better mix of single track and jeep roads. It's pretty darn big and goes into marlborough if you look for the right trailheads.

Rocky Racoon

Spring Hill is Rocky and there are places where it is virtually impossible to pass (you know these by number of reflectors these boulder fields have eaten) This route skirts some of the more hard core fields.

From Davis Road Trail Head (1/2 mile east of 2A/27 intersection)take path with gate. At intersation go left follow trail up hill to Spring Hill Conservation- go right at trail meeting. Various routes- Full round trip route to Spring Hill Road 5miles- Take trail after board walk ~3miles. Any ways, on the return trip their is a cross trail at about 4.5 miles that will bring you back to part of the Nashoba Brook Trails. Follow that trail down hill and to Wheeler Lane. Follow along Wheeler Lane to Fire plug- go left follow into development- pick up trail again between 1st and 2nd house and follow to right back to Davis Road.

Another option is take route in reverse and loop through Carlisle. Pop out at Wheeler Lane -> Rt27 North -> Carlisle Road (first right) -> to 225W -> Curve Street (first right) @ Cranberry Bog Curve @ White fence on right is a Path -> Carlisle Center (rotary) -> Go West -> Lowel Road (NOT 225) -> to South Street -> go left at West(ford) ST -> Right on Pope Road and either 1) take a right into Camp Acton Boy Scout Land (1/2 mile to 1 mile) or 2) Right on Spring Hill Road -> follow back to Davis Road.

If you start out and go right its pretty much some narrow singletrack through the woods, nothing to be concerned about. However, there seem to be phantom rocks, one jumped out and bit my left pedal, almost sending me into the surrounding brush. Probably my fault for going too fast, but I couldnt even find the stone I hit. Anyways, stay right at every fork and you end up at Davis road. Taking the rest of the loop back is actually longer with more rocks, uphill, and some swamps. If its at all damp, don try the swamps, doesnt matter what you ride, the mud can be almost a foot deep at times. Rocks didnt bother me on my soft tail, but I can imagine on a hard tail it would start to get annoying. Worth checking out. 5 stars because lots of rocks and its close to my house, however I do wish it was longer.
